The vastly improving Americanrevolution can win his first Grade 1 race when he leaves the starting gate in the 2021 Cigar Mile on Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack. Trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, Americanrevolution has won four of his last five starts. He is coming off an 11 3/4-length romp in the Empire Classic, earning a big 108 Beyer Speed Figure in the process. The three-year-old son of Constitution is the 5-2 morning-line favorite in the 2021 Cigar Mile odds. Independence Hall and Ginobili are the co-second choices in the eight-horse Cigar Mile 2021 field.

Post time for the one-turn race is 4:13 p.m. ET. With a well accomplished Cigar Mile field set to enter the starting gate on Saturday, you'll want to hear what racing insider and Beyer Speed Figure maker Bob Weir has to say before making any Cigar Mile picks.

A Saratoga Springs-based racing insider and Beyer Speed Figure maker, Weir is a two-time qualifier for the prestigious National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas. He has produced multiple five-figure days at the track over the years, including a $60,000 Pick 6 at Del Mar in 2014.

This year, he has been on fire. He hit the exacta in the Sam F. Davis Stakes, Tampa Bay Derby and Peter Pan Stakes, the trifecta in the Risen Star Stakes, Blue Grass Stakes and Pennsylvania Derby and the superfecta in the Belmont Stakes. Those are just some of his scores in 2021.

Now, he has handicapped the Cigar Mile 2021 field, made his picks and locked in his bets. You can only see them at SportsLine.

Top 2021 Cigar Mile predictions

One surprise: Weir is mostly fading Ginobili, even though he is one of the top favorites at 7-2. A four-year-old son of Munnings, Ginobili is in career form, with two wins in his last three starts. In his last race, he finished a good second to Life Is Good in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.

However, Ginobili has not run well outside of his home state. In two starts outside of California, he has lost by a combined 24 1/2 lengths. The Cigar Mile will be his first start at Aqueduct. "I suspect Ginobili will get bet down from this morning line, and I'm willing to stand against him on top in these new surroundings," Weir told SportsLine. Weir prefers multiple horses over Ginobili.

How to make 2021 Cigar Mile picks

Weir's top pick is an "in-form horse." He also is high on a double-digit long shot whose trainer just made "an aggressive move." Weir is including these horses in his 2021 Cigar Mile bets, and so should you. He's sharing which horses to back only at SportsLine.
