The racing world will have its eyes focused on Monmouth Park in New Jersey on Saturday as eight three-year-old thoroughbreds compete in the 2022 Haskell Stakes. Award-winning trainer Brad Cox returns to Monmouth Park, where his horse, Mandaloun, the 2021 Kentucky Derby winner, won the Pegasus Stakes last June. The Kentucky-based trainer's horses have totaled 122 first-place finishes on the season. Cox enters the Haskell Stakes 2022 with Cyberknife, who has three first-place starts over his last four races. Post time for the 2022 Haskell Stakes lineup is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. ET.

Santa Anita Derby winner Taiba, trained by Bob Baffert, is the 7-5 favorite in the 2022 Haskell Stakes odds, while undefeated colt Jack Christopher is 3-2. Four-time race-winner White Abarrio, who placed 16th in the Kentucky Derby, enters the 2022 Haskell Stakes field at 5-1 odds, while Cyberknife is 6-1. You'll want to see what SportsLine's Jody Demling has to say before entering any 2022 Haskell Stakes picks or horse racing predictions of your own, considering his spectacular track record in this race.

A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing about, talking about and betting on races for years, Demling enters the Haskell Stakes 2022 having nailed the winner of the Belmont Stakes, the horse racing calendar's last major race, four of the last fives years, including an exacta this year with Mo Donegal.

Demling is at his best in the biggest horse races in the world like the Haskell. He has hit 10 of the last 14 Derby-Oaks doubles at Churchill Downs. That means he held a ticket with the winners of both races all but four times in the last 14 years. He's also called nine of the last 18 Preakness winners, keenly understanding when the Kentucky Derby winner was poised for victory or a massive upset, and nailed this year's Preakness trifecta. Anyone who has followed him is up huge.

Now, with the Haskell Stakes 2022 approaching, Demling is sharing his picks and predictions over at SportsLine. Go here to see them.

Top 2022 Haskell Stakes predictions

One of Demling's surprising 2022 Haskell Stakes picks: He is fading Taiba, even though he is the 7-5 favorite. It's understandable that oddsmakers are high on Taiba given his background and pedigree. He's the son of 2017 American Horse of the Year Gun Runner, trained by the award-winning Baffert and raced by two-time ESPY Award-winning jockey Mike E. Smith.

However, the expert doesn't think Taiba has the speed to pull out a win on Saturday. In addition to his highest Equibase Speed Figure being just 102, Taiba has a tendency to tire out at the tail end of races. He also hasn't raced since the Kentucky Derby, where he placed 12th.

"He should run big, but I just don't like to pick a horse coming off a three month layoff," Demling told SportsLine. See which horses to pick here.

How to make 2022 Haskell Stakes picks, bets

Demling just locked in his picks for Taiba, Jack Christopher and every horse in the 2022 Haskell Stakes field. He's also high on a surprising long shot with a "nice price to bust into the exotics." Demling is sharing which horse it is, along with his entire projected 2022 Haskell Stakes leaderboard, over at SportsLine.
