The world's best player, Lionel Messi, won't be playing for a while. The Barcelona superstar was tackled in Barcelona's match vs. Las Palmas on Saturday and went down quickly. He then tried to keep playing before realizing he couldn't.

The club announced after the match that Messi had a tear in his internal collateral ligament and will be out for around 7-8 weeks.

Here is video of the injury, with three things to know.

1. It's a big blow for Barca, but the team should be fine: Look, Barcelona should probably still be able to win the league even if Lionel Messi wasn't on the team. With guys like Luis Suarez and Neymar, Barca has more than enough to win trophies. But having the best player in the world would obviously help. With Messi gone for a while, Neymar's importance grows. With Suarez staying high and looking for anything to put on frame, Neymar may drop more into the middle of the field to start the attack now that Messi is out. It's a concern for Barcelona, but it's not like he is going to miss Champions League knockout-stage matches. He will likely miss between 3-4 group stage matches for Barca, and the team should still advance. But after a 1-1 draw against Roma, a slip up or two could make things really interesting. In league play, Barca plays Real Madrid on Nov. 22. Will he make it back by then?

2. Argentina should be just as concerned: This is a bigger blow for Argentina just because of how important Messi is to the team. Messi is Argentina. Barca without Messi can still be great, but Argentina without Messi is probably average. Despite having stars like Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Angel Di Maria, Argentina hasn't really looked convincing despite making it to two cup finals in the last two years. It's hard to believe, but World Cup qualifying for 2018 starts in early October for South America. He should miss 3-4 matches there. When looking at Argentina's squad, which usually plays with three up top spread across the field, it may result in a change in formation or possibly having Sergio Aguero or Carlos Tevez attack from the wing, with Angel Di Maria on the left.

3. PK duties go to whom? Messi is Barca's main penalty-kick taker, but he hasn't been strong there lately. Neymar didn't look much better, skying his on Saturday. It would make sense for Luis Suarez to take over the duties here for Barcelona.

A good problem to have, really, because all options are solid. But my money is on Suarez getting a crack next time.

In the end, Barca should be just fine without Messi for a couple months. But soccer fans around the world (outside of Ronaldo fanatics), will miss his magic.
