    • The Red Sox reassigned Gonsalves to their minor-league camp Wednesday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports. Gonsalves is projected to open the 2021 season as a member of the Triple-A Pawtucket rotation. His lone big-league action came with the Twins back in 2018, when he submitted a 6.57 ERA and 2.03 WHIP in 24.2 innings across seven outings (four starts).

    • Gonsalves re-signed Dec. 22 with the Red Sox on a minor-league contract, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports. Gonsalves reportedly impressed the Red Sox at their alternate training site this summer, but it wasn't enough for him to earn a callup to the big club during the 60-game season. Despite being outrighted off the 40-man roster earlier this offseason, Gonsalves elected to stick around in the organization for another year. Expect him to open the 2021 campaign in the Triple-A Worcester rotation.

    • Gonsalves was outrighted to Boston's alternate training site. He went unclaimed after being designated for assignment but will remain in the organization. It's a pretty big indictment that Gonsalves has been unable to help a decimated Red Sox pitching staff at the big league level this season.

    • Gonsalves was designated for assignment Wednesday. The Red Sox claimed Andrew Triggs, who they obviously viewed as a more worthwhile reclamation project than Gonsalves, who had not received a big-league start this year even amid Boston's rotation depth woes. Look for him to go unclaimed and remain at the alternate training site.

    • Gonsalves was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox on Saturday and optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports. The 26-year-old lefty struggled to a 6.57 ERA and a 16:22 K:BB in his 24.2-inning debut for the Twins back in 2018 before missing most of last season due to elbow issues. The Mets claimed him off waivers over the winter but evidently didn't value him too highly. He'll likely be little more than organizational depth in Boston this season.
