The Hawaii swing is in the books, and the PGA Tour season rolls on with The American Express 2022 set to tee off on Thursday, Jan. 20 in La Quinta, Calif. The event will revert back to the three course format with the Pro-Am portion back in play in 2022. The tournament purse is $7.6 million, with $1.368 million going to the winner. Caesars Sportsbook lists World No. 1 Jon Rahm as the 6-1 betting favorite in its latest 2022 American Express golf odds. Patrick Cantlay (8-1), Scottie Scheffler (18-1), Tony Finau (20-1), and Sungjae Im (20-1) are also among the top contenders in the 2022 American Express field.

Si Woo Kim (40-1) is the defending American Express champion, which will likely make him a popular PGA one and done pick in this week. Is Kim a must-play? Or would it make more sense to go with a consistent star like Rahm or Cantlay? Before locking in your American Express one and done picks, you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say.

The One and Done format is growing in popularity. It has several noticeable similarities to NFL Survivor pools, with the main difference being entries are not eliminated with a bad week. Players pick one golfer per week (often with a backup in case of a last minute withdrawal) and earn points based on their selected golfer's prize money for that tournament. Golfers can only be used once per season, and the point format makes nailing majors and big money tournaments critical.

McClure is a DFS legend with nearly $2 million in career winnings, and he's been red-hot on his golf picks dating back to the PGA Tour restart in June of 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush his golf picks.

Last week at the Sony Open, McClure's model listed Hideki Matsuyama among the top contenders. The reigning Masters champion went out and overcame a five-stroke deficit on the back nine of the final round to notch his eighth career PGA Tour victory.

Two weeks ago at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, McClure included Jon Rahm and Daniel Berger among his top PGA picks. The result: Rahm came in second with a score of 33-under par, while Berger secured a top-five finish with a score of 25-under par. Anybody that included them in their one and done picks is in great shape after two weeks.

At the 2021 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba in November, McClure's model was all over Viktor Hovland (18-1) winning his third PGA Tour title. At the 2021 Open Championship, McClure's best bets included Collin Morikawa winning outright even though he was listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. In addition, McClure's model was all over Jon Rahm's (10-1) first career major championship victory at the 2021 U.S. Open.

McClure's model is also up nearly $10,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now, McClure has dialed in on the 2022 American Express golf tournament, and just locked in his picks and PGA predictions. You can only see McClure's The American Express one and done picks at SportsLine.

2022 American Express One and Done expert picks

One of McClure's top one and done picks for the 2022 American Express is South Korean phenom Sungjae Im. The 23-year-old is ranked No. 25 in the Official World Golf Rankings and has the skillset and pedigree to succeed this week in La Quinta.

Im finished T12 at the 2021 American Express and ranks fifth on the PGA Tour in scrambling, 11th in strokes gained tee-to-green, and 14th in strokes gained off the tee. If his putter gets hot this week, Im will have an excellent chance at making a run at his third career PGA Tour victory.
