The final event of the PGA Tour season is upon us, and every golfer will be trying to add to his FedEx Cup points total this week at the 2022 Wyndham Championship. The top 125 golfers after this week's tournament at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. advance to next week's St. Jude Championship. Webb Simpson and Rickie Fowler were among those who cracked the playoff tier when the suspended golfers from LIV were removed from the list, with Simpson moving to 117th and Fowler to 123rd. Cameron Champ (130th) wasn't so lucky, and Austin Smotherman is the man straddling the bubble at 125th. Will Zalatoris, Shane Lowry and Billy Horschel are among the headliners of this week's field and will be looking to pad their point totals for what they hope will be a run to the Tour Championship in three weeks.
Zalatoris (16-1), Lowry (16-1) and Sungjae Im (16-1) are the co-favorites in the latest 2022 Wyndham Championship odds from Caesars Sportsbook. Simpson (18-1) and Horschel (20-1) are right behind, followed by Russell Henley (22-1) and 2016 Wyndham champ Si Woo Kim (28-1). The expert also pegged Pendrith as the first-round leader at 70-1, and the Canadian shared that honor with Finau after both shot 64 on Thursday. Pendrith ended up tied for second alongside reigning FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay .
At the 3M Open the previous week, McDonald nailed both of his prop plays, taking Cam Davis as the top Australian finisher (+140) and Sahith Theegala to miss the cut (+275). The expert is up more than eight units on his PGA Tour props.

Top 2022 Wyndham Championship expert picks
One stunning prediction from McDonald: Simpson's success at Sedgefield won't continue this year. The expert is fading the 2011 Wyndham winner, who has finished in the top 10 in nine of 13 appearances. He tied for seventh (behind the six playoff participants) last year and was in the top three the previous four years. But the 36-year-old was T-69 last week and has one top-10 finish since last year's Wyndham. That was in November, so he is unlikely to contend this week.
On the other hand, Tyrrell Hatton hasn't been in contention much but is one of the best players in the field and the expert is backing him this week. The last time we saw Hatton, he tied for 11th at the Open Championship at St. Andrews, and that was with an uncharacteristically unreliable putter. The Englishman is fifth on tour in strokes gained putting, so that should come back. He hit almost 81 percent of his greens in regulation at The Open, his best performance of the year.
