The 2014 Winter Meetings are officially over. The last 24-36 hours or so have been among the busiest I can ever remember, with a swarm of trades and signings all Wednesday night and into Thursday.

My colleague Matt Snyder recapped the Winter Meetings and also looked ahead to what's next this offseason. Here is a recap of Thursday's news and notes from around the league.

TRANSACTIONS

MLB: A total of 13 players were selected in the 2014 Rule 5 Draft.

Angels: Acquired IF Josh Rutledge from the Rockies for RHP Jairo Diaz, the club announced.

Athletics: Designated OF Shane Peterson for assignment. (MLB.com)

Brewers: Released OF Jeremy Hermida so he could pursue an opportunity in Japan, the team announced.

Cardinals: Signed 1B/3B Mark Reynolds to a one-year contract worth $2 million.

Dodgers: Traded OF Matt Kemp and C Tim Federowicz to the Padres for C Yasmani Grandal, RHP Joe Wieland and minor league LHP Zach Eflin. The Dodgers are paying $32 million of the $107 million left on Kemp's contract and the deal is still pending MLB's approval. The Los Angeles lineup has gotten a big makeover ... Designated C Ryan Lavarnway to clear 40-man roster space. (Los Angeles Times)

Marlins: Acquired RHP Mat Latos from the Reds for RHP Anthony DeSclafani and minor league C Chad Wallach. Miami really beefed up their rotation with Latos ... Acquired RHP Andre Rienzo from the White Sox for LHP Dan Jennings, the team announced.

Mets: Signed OF John Mayberry Jr. to a one-year contract worth $1.45 million.

Padres: Failed to reach an agreement with LHP Kwang-Hyun Kim, GM A.J. Preller announced. The team will not have to pay their $2 million posting fee and Kim will return to his team in Korea next season.

Rangers: Acquired LHP Ross Detwiler from the Nationals for minor leaguers RHP Abel De Los Santos and IF Chris Bostick ... Signed OF Antoan Richardson, RHP Ross Wolf and RHP Anthony Bass to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training, the team announced.

Red Sox: Acquired RHP Rick Porcello from the Tigers for OF Yoenis Cespedes, RHP Alex Wilson and minor league LHP Gabe Speier. Both teams addressed a weakness with the trade ... Signed RHP Justin Masterson to a one-year contract worth $9.5 million. Boston's new rotation will be ground ball heavy.

Royals: Signed DH Kendrys Morales to a two-year contract worth $17 million. The deal includes a mutual option for a third year. The signing is a mixed bag.

Tigers: Acquired RHP Alfredo Simon from the Reds for SS Eugenio Suarez and minor league RHP Jonathan Crawford. RHP Melvin Mercedes was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Twins: Signed RHP Ervin Santana to a four-year contract worth $55 million. The deal includes a vesting option based on innings pitched for a fifth year. Most mid-rotation starters are off the market now.

HOT STOVE RUMORS

IF Asdrubal Cabrera: Teams are considering him at second base and the Giants like him at third. He's a popular target at those positions, but not shortstop. (Jon Heyman)

Angels: They are "open to opportunities" to upgrade at second base after trading 2B Howie Kendrick to the Dodgers, but they are not interested in IF Asdrubal Cabrera or IF Jed Lowrie. (Los Angeles Times)

Astros: Met with agent Scott Boras about IF Stephen Drew and various relievers. (Houston Chronicle)

Braves: Have not contacted RHP Kris Medlen since they non-tendered him last week. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

Dodgers: Open to moving IF Erisbel Arruebarrena. (Fox Sports)

Giants: Assistant GM Bobby Evans said the team intends to add a starter sooner rather than later. They're focused on RHP James Shields. (San Francisco Chronicle & Mercury News)

Marlins: Their list of first base targets includes Rockies 1B Justin Morneau, Pirates 1B/3B Pedro Alvarez, Diamondbacks 1B/OF Mark Trumbo and free agent 1B Michael Morse (Jon Heyman) ... Likely to sign IF Scott Sizemore to a minor league contract. (MLB Daily Dish)

Mariners: Not willing to exceed three years and roughly $42 million for OF Melky Cabrera, who is seeking five years and upwards of $60 million. (Tacoma News Tribune)

Nationals: Mets with RHP Jordan Zimmermann's agent earlier this week to discuss a long-term extension. (Washington Post)

Orioles: "Kicked the tires" on OF Jay Bruce but were unable to find a trade match with the Reds (New York Post) ... Optimistic they can keep both 1B Chris Davis and C Matt Wieters. Both players are due to become free agents next winter. (Baltimore Sun)

Padres: Will now focus on adding a corner infield bat. (MLB.com)

Pirates: Have discussed a long-term contract extension with 2B Neil Walker. (Pittsburgh Tribune Review)

Rangers: Have had talks with RHP Sergio Santos but are not close to signing him. (Fox Sports)

Royals: Hoping to sign OF Melky Cabrera, but, if they can't, they'll look at OF Norichika Aoki, OF Colby Rasmus and OF Alex Rios. (Jon Heyman)

Tigers: GM Dave Dombrowski said the team is "not in active pursuit" of RHP Max Scherzer even after trading Procello.

Twins: 2B Brian Dozier and IF Eduardo Escobar are drawing trade interest. (Jon Heyman)

White Sox: Are in talks with the Mariners about OF Dayan Viciedo. (MLB.com)

Yankees: GM Brian Cashman said they are trying to take a "patient" approach to the offseason but acknowledged they need pitching, particularly rotation help. (Journal News)
