Rosario was outrighted to Double-A Somerset on Saturday. Rosario was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Thursday, but he'll remain in the organization after clearing waivers. He appeared in 98 games at Double-A Portland last year and hit .231 with three homers, 48 runs, 36 RBI and 11 stolen bases.... See More ... See Less

Yankees' Jeisson Rosario: Loses 40-man spot
The Yankees designated Rosario for assignment Thursday. He's now been designated for assignment twice in just over two weeks, as Boston previously dropped Rosario from its 40-man roster before he was claimed by the Yankees on March 26. If the 22-year-old outfielder is able to clear waivers this time around, he'll stick in the New York organization and will likely report to Double-A Somerset.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jeisson Rosario: Claimed by Yankees
Rosario was claimed off waivers by the Yankees on Saturday and optioned to Double-A Somerset. Rosario had been on the Red Sox's 40-man roster since November of 2020 but has yet to play above Double-A. He wasn't particularly good at that level in 2021, striking out 27.9 percent of the time while showing very little power. He homered just three times in 98 games while slashing .232/.335/.307.... Red Sox's Jeisson Rosario: Loses roster spot
The Red Sox designated Rosario for assignment Wednesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports. Within the past two days, Boston has now dropped both of the prospects it acquired in the August 2020 deal that sent Mitch Moreland to San Diego from its 40-man roster. After infielder Hudson Potts was designated for assignment Tuesday to clear room for waiver pickup Kyle Tyler, Rosario will now cede his spot on the roster to newly-signed infielder Trevor Story. The 22-year-old Rosario stumbled through a tough first full season in the Boston organization in 2021, posting a lowly .641 OPS over 405 plate appearances at Double-A Portland.... See More ... Red Sox's Jeisson Rosario: Ho-hum start at Double-A
Rosario (leg) is slashing .254/.373/.286 with no home runs and two stolen bases through his first 16 games at Double-A Portland. Rosario picked up a leg injury during spring training, but he moved past the issue well in advance of the minor-league season starting in May. He's been a regular in the Portland outfield so far this season, but the 21-year-old hasn't made much of an impact statistically. Most troubling is Rosario's 32 percent strikeout rate, which is up more than 10 percentage points from his mark in 2019 at High-A Lake Elsinore.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Jeisson Rosario: Exits with apparent injury
Rosario left Wednesday's spring game against the Twins with an apparent leg injury, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. Rosario pulled up while chasing a flyball in the bottom of the fifth inning Wednesday, and he was immediately removed from the game. The exact nature and severity of the injury aren't yet known.... Red Sox's Jeisson Rosario: Protected from Rule 5 draft
Rosario's contract was purchased by the Red Sox on Friday. Acquired from San Diego in the Mitch Moreland trade, Rosario is one of the best athletes in Boston's farm system, but his game success has been lacking against more advanced pitching. The 21-year-old outfielder is a plus runner with a very passive approach at the plate that has led to high walk rates and very limited power output. He could open the year at High-A or Double-A.... Red Sox's Jeisson Rosario: Sent to Boston for Moreland
Rosario and Hudson Potts were acquired by the Red Sox from the Padres in exchange for Mitch Moreland, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports. Both players would have been eligible for the Rule 5 draft this offseason, so the Padres opted to trade them rather than adding them to the 40-man roster or risk losing them. Rosario spent the 2019 campaign at the High-A level and had a .242/.372/.314 slash line with three homers and 11 stolen bases in 120 games.... See More ... See Less

River Ave. Blues@RiverAveBlues3D agoI can't believe this needs to be said but yes, the Yankees should trade for Juan Soto. Signing Cody Bellinger instead of trading for Soto would fit NYY's "pass up the obvious thing for the thing they think makes them look smart" strategy that led them to an 82-80 record in 2023.
