Who's Playing

Western Kentucky @ Marshall

Current Records: Western Kentucky 7-4; Marshall 7-4

What to Know

The Marshall Thundering Herd and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will face off in a Conference USA clash at 3:30 p.m. ET Nov. 27 at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. After these two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one of them is set up to suffer a discouraging change of fortune.

When you finish with 216 more yards than your opponent like Marshall did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They were the clear victors by a 49-28 margin over the Charlotte 49ers. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Thundering Herd had established a 42-14 advantage. RB Rasheen Ali went supernova for Marshall as he rushed for three TDs and 203 yards on 23 carries. Ali's longest run was for 59 yards in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, the Florida Atlantic Owls typically have all the answers at home, but last week WKU proved too difficult a challenge. WKU steamrolled past Florida Atlantic 52-17 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-10. The Hilltoppers' QB Bailey Zappe was on fire, passing for six TDs and 470 yards on 49 attempts.

This next contest is expected to be close, with the Thundering Herd going off at just a 1.5-point favorite. Their home turf has been no bettor's paradise, though, as they've failed to beat the spread in three of their five home games.

The wins brought both teams up to an identical 7-4. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Marshall is 231st worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown 13 on the season. The Hilltoppers have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the game with the 193rd most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown ten on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
