Janish's contract was purchased from Triple-A Norfolk and he will start at shortstop for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the A's.

Manager Buck Showalter said he did not want to play Manny Machado at shortstop for 18 innings Saturday, so Janish was brought up to help ease the burden. The 33-year-old shortstop was hitting an empty .329 at Norfolk prior to the promotion, but he has a career .216 batting average in 1,242 MLB plate appearances, so there's nothing to see here from a fantasy perspective. He'll bat ninth in the first game Saturday, and should quickly be sent back down.
