  • Grullon was traded to White Sox from the Rays on Thursday for cash considerations, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Grullon has been a member of several organizations this season, including the Reds, Rays and Mets. He'll now land with the White Sox, who are in need of organizational depth at the position with Yasmani Grandal (knee) set to miss at least a few more weeks. Grullon has not logged a major-league plate appearance this season and is hitting .194/.282/.456 across 117 plate appearances at Triple-A.

  • Grullon was designated for assignment by the Rays on Friday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. Grullon is evidently seen as good enough to be worth picking up but not good enough to be worth keeping around. He's been designated for assignment five times since the end of last season, moving from the Red Sox to the Reds in December, then on to the Rays for a brief period in April before moving to the Mets and back to the Rays. It remains to be seen whether or not he'll be claimed off waivers yet again this time around, as none of the teams who've claimed him this year have liked him enough to call him up to the active roster. The move clears a 40-man roster spot for Matt Wisler, who was picked up in a trade with the Giants in a corresponding move.

  • Grullon was claimed off waivers by the Rays on Saturday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. Grullon has spent the year bouncing between several different organizations. He was briefly with the Rays for 18 days in April but never made the team's active roster. It will likely take an injury for that to happen this time around.

  • Grullon was designated for assignment by the Mets on Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Catcher is just about the only position on the Mets' roster that hasn't been hit hard by injuries, so the team will remove Grullon from the 40-man roster in order to clear a spot for infielder Wilfredo Tovar. Grullon has already been designated for assignment by the Reds and Rays this season, so he'll be hoping to get picked up by his fourth organization of the year.

  • The Mets claimed Grullon off waivers from the Rays on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Grullon will be moving on to his fifth organization in seven months and his third in April after brief stints with the Reds and Rays. He'll get a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster, but since he still has minor-league options remaining, Grullon won't need to be included on New York's 26-man active roster. Instead, expect the 25-year-old catcher to report to Triple-A Syracuse in preparation for the start of the minor-league season, which begins next week.
