Ellenson signed a one-year deal with Obradoiro on Tuesday. After four seasons in the NBA, Ellenson spent last year playing in the G League before signing a 10-day contract with the Raptors in March. The 2016 first-round pick finished third in the G League MVP balloting, but he failed to stick on the NBA roster in Toronto after his contract expired. The Marquette product is now headed to the Spanish ACB League to make his European basketball debut.
Ellenson became a free agent Saturday after the Raptors elected not to renew his 10-day contract, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports. After finishing third in the G League MVP balloting following a successful run with the Raptors 905 in Orlando over the previous month, Ellenson was rewarded with a call-up to the NBA squad. He ended up making two appearances while the Raptors were short on players due to COVID-19 protocols, averaging 7.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 19.0 minutes. While the production wasn't enough for Ellenson to stick around on the 15-man roster, Toronto could look to re-sign him if the team still has a spot open in the aftermath of Thursday's trade deadline.
Ellenson signed a 10-day contract with the Raptors on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Ellenson spent the past several weeks in the G League and was a key contributor for the Raptors 905. He averaged 21.2 points and 8.2 rebounds over 30.6 minutes while starting all but two games during the regular season. Ellenson will try to carve out some playing time with the parent club following the All-Star break.
Ellenson produced 35 points (12-18 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds and four assists across 36 minutes in Monday's 127-102 playoff win over G League Ignite. Ellenson's massive scoring performance helped propel G League Raptors 905 to the semifinal round. The 24-year-old center led the team in scoring in large part because of his efficiency from range. That's nothing new for Ellenson, as he hit 42.4 percent of his three-pointers during the regular season en route to 21.2 points per contest.
Ellenson provided 21 points (7-15 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 27 minutes in Thursday's 115-93 win over G League Oklahoma City. Ellenson has started all 13 games this year, and he's been quite consistent. The 24-year-old has hit 47.8 percent of his field goals and 40.5 percent of his three-pointers, translating to 20.6 points per game. In addition, he's averaged 8.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
