The Royals are in the middle of a big slump. They headed into Tuesday night's game against the Orioles having lost each of their last five games, and in those five games they've been outscored 27-7. Ouch.
Things have not gotten much better Tuesday. The Orioles scored four runs off Yordano Ventura in the very first inning, and it would have been more if not for this ridiculous home run robbery by Lorenzo Cain. Check it out:
That is one of those plays the video does not do justice. The degree of difficulty was insanely high. Cain was running full speed at the wall and had to time his jump perfectly to rob Pedro Alvarez and what would have been a two-run dinger. He couldn't slow down at all.
Defense like that is a reason why Cain is one of the top two-way threats in baseball. He's a very good hitter and one of the top outfield defenders in baseball. He impacts the game in so many ways. What a tremendous catch.
