Bears' Austin Booker: Scooped up by Chicago in Round 5
The Bears selected Booker in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 144th overall.
This looks like a nice pick for Chicago, because Booker is probably one of the more talented edge rushers in the draft. The catch is that Booker (6-foot-5, 240 pounds) might need development time or/and time to bulk up before he can play regular snaps, and he might be a healthy scratch up to that point. The Kansas product probably hurt his stock at the NFL Combine between the low weigh-in and the resultingly disappointing 4.79-second 40-yard dash, but he likely would have had a more well-rounded workout if he had the benefit of another year or two of development, as he has only 18 games of college experience.

Bears' Tory Taylor: Bolsters Chicago's special teams
The Bears selected Taylor in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 122nd overall.
Taylor grew up in Australia but came stateside to play collegiate football at Iowa. He emerged as one of the premier punters in the country during his four years with the Hawkeyes, and he averaged 48.2 yards per punt and landed 34.4 percent of his kicks inside the 20 as a senior. The 2023 Ray Guy Award winner should immediately take over punting duties in the Windy City.

Bears' Kiran Amegadjie: Headed home to Chicago
The Bears selected Amegadjie in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 75th overall.
A Chicago native out of noted football factory, Yale, Amegadjie is an impressive prospect with a legitimate chance to make the leap to NFL stardom. At 6-foot-5 and 323 pounds with 36-inch arms, Amegadjie has the size and length to stick at tackle on paper. He dominated Ivy League competition but the NFL will be a big step up. He will be just 22 years old for his entire rookie season, and thus, the Bears will not need to rush him onto the field if the starting unit stays intact. In time, look for Amegadjie to challenge for tackle reps in the Windy City.
