The CBS Sports 128 provides a unique glimpse at college football, but after several top teams fell in a busy Week 10, there's very little to differentiate the top of the rankings. The CBS Sports 128, AP Top 25, Coaches Poll, Sagarin, Football Outsider's F/+ and everyone's power rankings agree: Alabama is the No. 1 team in the country.

The Tide (9-0) outlasted LSU 10-0 on Saturday night -- "We couldn't score for three quarters and they couldn't score for four," Nick Saban told CBS sideline reporter Allie LaForce after the game -- but there's one huge test left before the SEC Championship Game. Auburn (7-2) powered through quarterback issues to defeat Vanderbilt 23-16 to remain in contention for the SEC West with just one conference loss (to Texas A&M). If the Tigers defeat Georgia in Athens on Saturday, they'll enter the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa with as much to gain as the Tide.

This week Auburn made another move up in the CBS Sports 128 to No. 7. On Oct. 17, Penn State was 24 spots back at No. 34 as a two-loss team with its best win coming by seven against Temple. After beating Ohio State and blowing out Purdue and Iowa, the Nittany Lions are one of the nation's hottest teams and have crawled into the last spot in our top 10.

College football experts from CBS Sports -- and for the first time this year, partner 247Sports -- contribute ballots each week, which are averaged together for our rankings. You can see the top-25 below, and 26-128 on our rankings page.

Just outside the top 25 is a cluster of Group of Five schools: San Diego State, Houston and South Florida are holding down the next three spots with Navy and Troy checking in at Nos. 32 and 33. The Group of Five golden ticket is Western Michigan's to lose at this point, but if the Broncos fall the committee will have plenty of potential options elsewhere.

Biggest movers

  • Penn State (+8): The Nittany Lions are growing up before our eyes. Star sophomore running back Saquon Barkley steals the show, but this is a team loaded with contributors like Barkley who will be back for 2017. Penn State fans hope they can end up in a three-way tie for the Big Ten East Division title, but if that dream is not achieved, the big picture remains encouraging in Happy Valley.
  • Washington State (+7): Did you see Luke Falk go 32 for 35 passing vs. Arizona? Have you watched Washington State in Pac-12 play? It might be time to circle the Cougars' next game (vs. Cal, Nov. 12) as a must-watch so you're not surprised when they push the Huskies to the brink in the Apple Cup at the end of the season.
  • Florida (-9): The Gators not only lost to Arkansas in Fayetteville for the first time, but also lost one of their best defensive players in Alex Anzalone for the season -- and probably more players if you look at their injury list -- as well as a game of separation in the SEC East. Florida is still favored to win the division, thanks to Georgia's 27-24 win against Kentucky (a sentence I never thought I would write) and a favorable matchup vs. South Carolina on Saturday to open a SEC on CBS doubleheader.
  • Nebraska (-9): Thrilled to see Tommy Armstrong Jr. come back to the field after a scary hit, but Nebraska's time near the top of the rankings ended with its second loss.
