You've surely heard the lacerating story by now: A's reliever Pat Neshek's newborn son died less than 24 hours after he was born.
Now, Neshek, mere days later, is set to rejoin the A's for their ALDS series against the Tigers.
"I don't think we will ever get over it," Neshek told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, "but this is a good way to put the pieces back together."
Slusser goes on to report that it was Neshek's wife Stephanee who urged him to return to his team.
Here, though, is the tweet that sums up Neshek's struggle, one that will surely always be with him:
Pat Neshek says the one day he had with his son was the best in his life and he would go through this all again for that one day. #Athletics

Whatever team you're pulling for this postseason, save some hopes and wishes for Pat Neshek.
