Fresh off their first World Series championship in more than a quarter-century, the Atlanta Braves have exercised their 2024 club option for manager Brian Snitker, the team announced Tuesday. Snitker is now under contract another three seasons.

Snitker, 66, is a Braves lifer who originally joined the organization as an undrafted free agent in 1977. He played four seasons in the minors before jumping into minor league coaching and beginning his ascend up the ladder. Snitker served as Atlanta's bullpen coach (1985, 1988-90) and third base coach (2007-13) while also doing some coaching and managing in the minors.

The Braves fired manager Fredi Gonzalez in May 2016 and named Snitker, then their Triple-A manager, their interim skipper. He was given the position full-time following the season, and under Snitker's watch the Braves are 441-390 (.531) in parts of six seasons. They have won the last four NL East titles in addition to the 2021 World Series.

"I think this is kind of -- guys that are in baseball -- that's what we do. We fight through adversities. We grind. After a while, it's what you do. It's not who you are, it's what you do," Snitker said following the team's World Series win.

"You just keep fighting the fight and grinding through because you never know. Like I said, people in the minor leagues, you never know what could happen. It happened to me. I got an opportunity. There's a lot of guys out there, my same type thing who have been through a lot and put their families through a lot, and not everybody gets it. I was blessed enough to get an opportunity."

Snitker was named NL Manager of the Year in 2018. He finished fourth in the voting this year and has been in at least a top four finisher in the voting every year since 2018.
