New Cowboys defensive end and second round (60th overall) pick Randy Gregory, who a failed drug test at the NFL scouting combine and other off-field issues, requested that Dallas installs a support system to help keep him out of trouble off the field, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Gregory made that request when speaking to owner and general manager Jerry Jones during his pre-draft visit in the week leading up to the draft. The Nebraska product has requested that the Cowboys put a structure in place similar to how they assisted receiver Dez Bryant after he was arrested in 2012 for assaulting his mother, per Deryk Gilmore, his agent.
"I think he's a good person," executive vice president Stephen Jones said. "He has great football character. ... I believe in the young man."
