The Pennsylvania-based college teams have all been eliminated from basketball's big postseason event, but that won't slow Pennsylvania sports betting in the coming weeks as one of the most exciting events in sports heads toward its conclusion. Caesars Sportsbook PA is also expecting an uptick in pro baseball futures as the season approaches. The Keystone State is home to a defending league champion, so the pro baseball interest should be high this year. Add in the stretch run for pro basketball and pro hockey, along with plenty of huge events in golf, auto racing and soccer, and sports betting in Pennsylvania will continue to be popular.

Right now, Caesars Sportsbook is offering up to a $1,250 first bet on Caesars plus 1,000 Reward Credits and 1,000 Tier Credits when you use the code GAMEFULLC. If your initial bet up to $1,250 doesn't win, you get it back in a single bonus bet you can use within 14 days. The new Caesars Sportsbook signup offer and exclusive Caesars Sportsbook promo code are already huge hits, but they won't last forever. Download the Caesars Sportsbook app now.

If you are a first-time bettor at Pennsylvania online sportsbooks, learning all the sports betting terms can be a little overwhelming. Here is a helpful guide to get you started so you can wager like a pro.

How to bet on sports in Pennsylvania

Here are several ways you can bet on sports in Pennsylvania from our friends at SportsLine:

Money line: A money-line play is a pick on which team will win, with the odds weighted according to which side is favored. A No. 16 seed beat a No. 1 for just the second time in history last week. The winning side returned +2100 on the money line, which meant a $100 bet on it to win returned $2,100. On the other side, the favorite was -10000 on the money line, meaning a $10,000 bet on it to win would've only returned $100.

Spread: The spread is a way handicappers even the matchup with one team "getting" points and the other "giving" points. Both sides of the spread are usually priced around -110 (risk $110 to win $100). In the aforementioned example, the No. 1 seed was a 23-point favorite, meaning it would have needed to win by 24 or more points to cover.

Over/under: Other than side betting, the over/under, or total, is one of the most popular bet types. This is a bet on the combined score of two teams in a contest. If the over/under is set at 130, a final score of 74-70 would be a win for the Over. In the first week of college basketball's postseason, the Under hit in 27 out of 36 games, so it's important to be aware of betting trends like that before making wagers.
