Okafor underwent successful arthroscopic season-ending surgery Tuesday to repair a slightly torn right meniscus, Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports.
Okafor is facing a recovery timetable of at least six weeks, so barring any unforeseen complications, he should be a full participant in training camp for the Sixers next fall. The No. 3 overall pick led the team with an average of 17.5 points during his 53 games, but it's uncertain how he'll be deployed by the team in 2016-17. Okafor often failed to click with Nerlens Noel when the two played alongside each other, and the Sixers will add 2014 draft pick Joel Embiid (foot) into the mix as well.
