Tuesday afternoon, Major League Baseball released the fourth AL All-Star Game voting update. Each year fans are tasked with picking the starting position players for each league in the All-Star Game. The 2016 All-Star Game will be played on July 12 in San Diego.
Here is the latest voting update from MLB:
There is one change among the projected starters this week: Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts has jumped over Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain in the voting, and has assumed a starting outfield spot. Betts is on track to join teammate Jackie Bradley Jr. and Angels wunderkind Mike Trout in the outfield. Cain is now on the outside looking in.
Royals catcher Salvador Perez remains the leading vote-getter among all AL players. He nearly tripled his lead over Red Sox DH David Ortiz these last seven days. Last week Perez had 48,416 vote lead over Ortiz. This week it's 132,078 votes.
The 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot -- available exclusively via MLB.com, team sites and mobile devices -- will be accessible through June 30, at which point this phase of the voting will end.
