Yoel Romero vs. Melvin Manhoef will serve as the co-main event for Bellator Paris on May 6. The event, taking place inside AccorHotels Arena, is headlined by a Bellator heavyweight title rematch between Ryan Bader and France's Cheick Kongo.
Romero vs. Manhoef was announced by Bellator in a press release on Thursday. Romero (13-6) is on a career-worst skid, having lost four in a row. "The Soldier of God" made his Bellator debut in September 2021, losing a Bellator Light Heavyweight Grand Prix opener to Phil Davis via split decision. During his UFC run, Romero challenged for the UFC middleweight championship twice and defeated former champions Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida.
Manhoef (32-15-1, 1 NC) saw a two-fight winning streak snapped courtesy of a second-round TKO loss to Corey Anderson in November 2020. Entering his 17th year as a pro-MMA fighter, Manhoef holds victories over Mark Hunt and Kazushi Sakuraba.
Bellator Paris: Bader vs. Kongo 2 seeks to settle the grievances between its two heavyweight headliners. Bader and Kongo initially met in September 2019 at Bellator 226. An accidental eye poke to Kongo ended the evening early, officially a no contest in Round 1.
Bellator Paris airs live on May 6 via Showtime at 4 p.m. ET.
