Saturday's Serie A action in Italy featured three fixtures and produced only three goals. Although all three came in one match, that didn't keep us short of action and drama as Inter Milan continued their late-game theatrics with another clutch goal in the dying moments to maintain their march toward back-to-back scudetti.

Serie A scores, results

Genoa 0, Udinese 0
Inter Milan 2, Venezia 1
Lazio 0, Atalanta 0

The Nerazzurri had their hands full facing a Venezia side that scored an early goal from Thomas Henry and featured a productive day from 20-year-old American midfielder Tanner Tessmann. Ethan Ampadu set the opening goal with a cross that had eyes for Henry's forehead as the header was at the perfect angle to beat the keeper.

Not a bad start at all for a team only two points above the relegation zone. Inter struggled to hit back early on but Nicolo Barella got ahold of a ball in the 40th minute. Awareness in the box goes a long way as he put the rebound in to push things back.

Inter had the run of things for almost the entire match but Eden Dzeko had a massive miss in the 57th minute following Hakan Calhanoglu's free kick. The forward poked the ball just over the crossbar but he'd make up for it in the death scoring the winner. With two players on him, he was able to head the ball in following a floated cross from Denzel Dumfries.

While Venezia did lose the match, they can hold their heads high after a strong performance, especially from Tessmann who was a bright spot in midfield.

Lazio and Atalanta put on an unexpected defensive clinic with only three shots on target. Two of the highest scoring teams in the league and one of the defensive units that concedes the most goals failed to give us any goals, in what could be a major boost for Juventus as they fight to climb up the table ahead of their Sunday showdown against AC Milan. While the points were shared, it will be viewed as an opportunity lost for each team when they needed the points.

Genoa played a match with their new manager Alexander Blessin and he learned how tough of a job he is in for as Andrea Cambiaso was sent off in the 78th minute for collecting two yellow cards. Genoa had the better chances but with how much change has happened this season, it will be a hard job for them to avoid the drop in Serie A.
