With an undefeated start to the season and a No. 2 ranking in the AP Top 25, Baylor it seems has hardly missed a beat since winning its first NCAA Tournament title in April. The 8-0 Bears are clearly a talented team again this season, but they will face their toughest test of the season so far Sunday, when they play host to No. 6 Villanova in one of December's marquee college hoops matchups.

It'll merely be the latest challenging game in a tough early-season stretch for the Wildcats, who are 7-2 with losses against No. 1 Purdue and No. 4 UCLA. Villanova was competitive in both those games and has double-digit wins over Syracuse and Tennessee on its resume.

All four of those matchups have either come on the road or a neutral site, so the prospect of playing in front of a rowdy crowd at Ferrell Center shouldn't bother Villanova, which took UCLA to overtime in a sold-out Pauley Pavilion last month. The question becomes how Baylor will handle what will be the most raucous home environment it has experienced in a long time.

This will be the Bears' first game in the last eight days, and it's a chance for them to prove to the country that they are a serious threat to repeat as national champions in what should be an electric environment.

Baylor vs. Villanova prediction, picks

Featured Game | Baylor Bears vs. Villanova Wildcats

Baylor has plenty of outside shooters, but for now the Bears are thriving inside the arc with players creating off the dribble and getting to the rack. Protecting the rim is one of the Wildcats' weaknesses, and that should allow the Bears to operate smoothly. The Wildcats appear to have an edge at point guard with Collin Gillespie, but it's unlikely they can keep pace with a Baylor team that will be jacked up and ready to go in front of its home fans. Prediction: Baylor 79, Villanova 73
