Week 9 of the 2021 NFL season will feature the New England Patriots visiting the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in a rematch of Super Bowl XXXVIII. New England won that matchup and went on to win six Super Bowls during an incredible dynasty but has rebooted with rookie quarterback Mac Jones at the helm after Tom Brady's departure. Now both teams are 4-4 on the season and in need of a win to keep themselves realistically in playoff contention. You may be able to stream the game on Paramount+.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. New England is favored by three points, with the over-under listed at 41.5 in the latest Patriots vs. Panthers odds from Caesars Sportsbook. In select markets, Sunday's matchup can be seen live on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan.

Week 9 NFL picks for Patriots vs. Panthers

Before you tune in to Sunday's Panthers vs. Patriots game, you need to see the NFL picks from SportsLine's advanced computer model. The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up almost $7,800 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. The model enters Week 9 of the 2021 season on an incredible 128-86 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

The model also ranked in the Top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick'em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

For Patriots vs. Panthers, the model is backing Carolina (+3) to cover the spread at home. The Carolina offense has struggled to find its identity with Christian McCaffrey out for the last five games, but McCaffrey (hamstring) is active for Sunday's showdown against the Patriots.

The Panthers have a very clear idea of what their identity is on the other side of the ball and Carolina rode a strong performance from its defensive unit to a 19-13 win over the Falcons last week. Carolina held Atlanta to just 213 yards of total offense and 13 points and got big games from defensive stars like Shaq Thompson (10 tackles and one INT), Stephon Gilmore (INT) and Haason Reddick (sack and two TFLs).

The model is projecting a couple of sacks and two more forced turnovers on Sunday as New England's Jones finishes with just 216 passing yards on average. That along with over 100 scrimmage yards from McCaffrey helps the Panthers cover in over 50 percent of simulations.
