  • Charlton signed a contract with the Sants on Monday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports. Charlton is coming off a season playing for a fourth different team in five years, finishing with 18 tackles, 0.5 sacks and one pass defensed over 11 games for the Steelers. He'll look to add depth at defensive end for the Saints in 2022.

  • Charlton is expected to replace the injured T.J. Watt (hip) as a starter on the edge during Sunday's game against the Chargers, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports. Since being signed off the practice squad Nov. 3, Charlton has appeared in each of the past three games for the Steelers, filling a rotational role on defense while logging six tackles. Expect Charlton to get a steady bump in field time Sunday in place of Watt after he played no more than 34 percent of the Steelers' defensive snaps in any of his prior three contests.

  • Charlton fractured his right leg during Sunday's win over the Panthers, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports. Charlton's going to miss substantial time as he recovers from the injury he picked up in the first quarter. The Chiefs are expected to place him on injured reserve this week, and coach Andy Reid should reveal a more definitive timeline soon. Alex Okafor (hamstring) can return from IR following the Week 10 bye, providing dependable depth behind starting defensive ends Frank Clark and Tanoh Kpassagnon.

  • Charlton (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Charlton didn't practice at all last week and predictably didn't play against the Broncos on Sunday, but it appears he's been cleared heading into a Week 8 matchup against the Jets. Charlton hasn't played more than 30 percent of the defensive snaps in any given game, but he's still managed to produce two sacks so far. He's slated to continue working in a situational role moving forward.
