Week 13 NFL picks for Chargers vs. Bengals
Before you tune in to Sunday's Bengals vs. Chargers game, you need to see the NFL picks from SportsLine's advanced computer model. The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up almost $7,100 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. The model enters Week 13 of the 2021 season on an incredible 131-94 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.
The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick'em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way
For Bengals vs. Chargers, the model predicts the Chargers cover the spread as 2.5-point road underdogs. Going back to last season, the Chargers are 5-3 against the spread as road underdogs, while the Bengals are just 1-2 this season as home favorites. The last time the Bengals were such narrow home home favorites was last week against the Steelers, when they won 41-10.
The Chargers could capitalize on the Bengals coming off such a big win against a divisional opponent early in the game and catch Cincinnati by surprise early on. Herbert has been about as good on the road as he has been at home this season, but he's particularly strong in the first half of all games. Herbert has completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,508 yards and 13 touchdowns in the first two quarters of games. Furthermore, Cincinnati has allowed the second-most receptions in the NFL to opposing running backs (81), which is advantageous for Chargers running back Austin Ekeler.
SportsLine's model predicts that Herbert will throw 314 yards with two touchdowns, and Ekeler will be on the receiving end of 51 of them. Ekeler should also finish with close to 60 yards and a touchdown on the ground as well, and the Chargers should do enough to keep it within the 2.5-point spread in over 50 percent of all simulations.
