Chargers' Donald Parham: Snares two TDs
Parham caught both his targets for four yards and two touchdowns in a 28-24 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
At this point, it's clear the 6-foot-8 tight end is one of quarterback Justin Herbert's favorite red-zone options, with four of Parham's seven targets so far in 2023 coming inside the 20-yard line, leading to three short TDs. Parham played 34 snaps compared to starter Gerald Everett's 38 on Sunday, but it would be more encouraging for his fantasy consistency if Parham were more involved in all facets of the offense.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Leads tight ends in snaps Week 2
Parham caught one of his two targets for seven yards in the 27-24 overtime loss to the Titans.
Masked in what was a bad statistical outing for Parham was that the 6-foot-8 target played more snaps (34) than nominal starter Gerald Everett (28). When healthy, Parham has routinely been one of Justin Herbert's favorite big-play specialists, and in Week 1 the former XFL target drew a nifty red-zone touchdown to boot. Everett will likely never be completely fazed out of the offensive picture, especially with how often the Chargers run multiple tight ends on a given play, but Parham makes for an intriguing speculative pickup if he's eventually able to earn the lion's share of the tight end snaps moving forward.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Snares TD in loss
Parham caught all three of his targets for 21 yards and a touchdown in a 36-34 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
Parham's touchdown came in the slot, as the 6-foot-8 target ran a quick slant and snared a bullet of a throw for a red zone touchdown. Health has been an issue for Parham over the past two seasons, but when he's available Parham is arguably one of the team's top options in scoring situations. It's also worth noting the 26-year-old tallied more receptions and yards than starter Gerald Everett, although by a marginal amount.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Fades injury report
Parham wasn't listed on the Chargers' injury report Wednesday.
Parham had been dealing with an undisclosed injury since training camp that limited him to individual drills. He is seemingly past that injury and will be ready for Week 1 as the backup tight end behind Gerald Everett.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Working through injury
Parham (undisclosed) missed Tuesday's practice due to injury but was able to participate in individual drills Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
The tight end doesn't appear to be battling anything serious, as he described the reason for being sidelined Tuesday as, "working through some stuff from practice last week." Parham is a lock to make the Chargers' initial 53-man roster, so it wouldn't be surprising if he sits out the team's preseason finale Friday against San Francisco.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Goose egg in Sunday's loss
Parham failed to catch any of his three targets in Sunday's preseason loss to the Saints.
Getting the start with Gerald Everett and the Chargers' other first-teamers sitting out, Parham was the intended recipient of Easton Stick's first throw but couldn't haul it in, which ended up being the story of the night for the fourth-year tight end. Meanwhile, depth TE Stone Smartt caught four of his five targets from Stick for 32 yards. Parham's 6-foot-8 frame had made him an enticing red-zone sleeper even since he entered the league in 2020, but as yet it hasn't translated into any kind of consistent production.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Returning to Chargers
Parham and the Chargers agreed to a contract Friday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Parham will return to Los Angeles after testing the open market. The tight end has spent the first three seasons of his career with the team, reeling in 10 catches for 130 yards and a score over six games in 2022. Parham will provide quarterback Justin Herbert with another familiar target in 2023.

Donald Parham: Gets to test open market
Parham is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year Wednesday with the Chargers declining to offer him an RFA tender, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Parham and Los Angeles weren't able to come to terms on a potential extension, giving the 25-year-old an opportunity to sign elsewhere. The 6-foot-8 tight end has developed into a solid No. 2 option, so he should have a fairly competitive market as a free agent. For the Chargers, meanwhile, the tight end position begins to look like a clear need if Parham indeed inks with another club.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Not expected to be tendered
The Chargers are not expected to tender Parham ahead of free agency, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Parham and Los Angeles reportedly had talks about a potential extension, but the two sides have been unable to agree to terms. That sets up the depth tight end, who appeared in just six games last season due to injuries, to search for a new role elsewhere. The 25-year-old shouldn't have much difficulty earning a reserve gig on the open market.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Season limited by injuries
Parham caught 10 of his 12 targets for 130 yards and touchdown during the 2022-23 season.
Parham appeared in just six games as he battled various injuries throughout the season. Despite the limited playing time, Parham was still the most productive tight end on the roster aside from Gerald Everett. Everett's a restricted free agent this offseason and it'll be interesting to see if the big-bodied target will be brought back.

Chargers' Donald Parham: First TD of 2022
Parham caught his only target for a three-yard touchdown in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Rams.
Sunday marked the first touchdown for Parham this season. It's been a bit surprising to see the 6-foot-8 behemoth not used more in the red zone, but that's likely a credit to the sheer dominance of running back Austin Ekeler, who tallied another red-zone score in the aforementioned win. Parham once again saw 20-plus offensive snaps, marking the third straight week the tight end saw a relevant role since his return from injured reserve.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Continues to draw downfield targets
Parham caught one of his two targets for eight yards in the 20-3 win over the Colts on Monday.
Parham continues to be a target in the team's intermediate-to-deep passing attack, as the big-bodied pass catcher had a 20-plus yard reception wiped out due to a holding penalty. Parham might not see many targets and doesn't see enough consistent playing time to warrant fantasy consideration, but it's clear the Chargers want to get him involved downfield for explosive plays

Chargers' Donald Parham: Snares three passes in return
Parham caught all three of his targets for 35 yards in the 17-14 win Sunday over the Titans.
It's been a disappointing campaign for Parham, for many managers had aspirations of him being a fantasy difference maker after positive buzz following a strong preseason. The 25-year-old's latest stretch of injuries -- first with a concussion and then a hamstring injury that forced the big-bodied target to land on injured reserve -- ultimately cost Parham a total of seven games, but Sunday's return was an immediate reminder of the aforementioned potential. While blocking specialist Tre' McKitty still wound up out-snapping Parham (22 to 21), the former XFL tight end could be an interesting option if Gerald Everett were to miss any time.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Comes off IR
The Chargers activated Parham (hamstring) from injured reserve Saturday.
Parham's 2022 campaign has been marred by numerous health concerns. First, a hamstring issue delayed his season debut to Week 5. After Week 6 action, Parham entered the concussion protocol and sat out Week 7. Following the team's Week 8 bye, he picked up another hamstring issue that forced him to IR. Now seemingly healthy for the first time in two months, Parham will have four potential appearances to close out the regular season as the nominal No. 2 tight end behind Gerald Everett.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Cleared to practice
The Chargers designated Parham (hamstring) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Wednesday's transaction opens a 21-day window for the Chargers to add Parham back to the active roster, after he missed each of the team's last six games with a hamstring issue. Once it's been medically determined that the 25-year-old is ready for game action, he'll likely compete for rotational snaps with Tre' McKitty and Stone Smartt behind starter Gerald Everett.

Chargers' Donald Parham: Should return to practice soon
Coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Parham (hamstring) should return to practice at some point this week, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.
Parham has been on IR since the beginning of November, but it appears he could be nearing a return to practice. Once he's designated to return, the Chargers will have a 21-day window to add him to the active roster.
