James (hamstring) is active for Sunday's contest against the Texans, but he wasn't participating during pregame warmups, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
James' nonparticipation during warmups suggests the Chargers would prefer not to play him, but they are keeping him active because they have so many players sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols. If James is indeed only an emergency option, Alohi Gilman and Ben DeLuca would likely both be candidates for increased snaps.
