Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Thursday that Chubb (illness) is "trending in the right direction" toward being available to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday's game against the Lions, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Among the three Browns running backs that landed on the list last week, only John Kelly was reinstated Wednesday, but Chubb and Demetric Felton don't seem to be far behind. Because he's vaccinated, Chubb will be eligible to rejoin the Browns as soon as he's exhibiting diminished symptoms of the virus and tests negative on two occasions at least 24 hours apart, and Van Pelt's comments suggest the team's top back could be cleared as soon as Friday. Chubb's status for Sunday's game against the Lions would be dicier if he fails to return in time for Friday's practice, but even if he's activated by Saturday, he should be in good shape to lead Cleveland's ground attack in the team's Week 11 matchup.
