Only three weeks into the season and we're getting into the nitty-gritty here. Only 11 winless teams remain out of the 130 FBS teams, and one of them is Florida State, so we're going to be down to 10 pretty soon.

Because it's still winless and hasn't played since opening weekend, Florida State remains ranked in the Bottom 25, but the ACC need not worry. Even if the Seminoles win this week, the ACC could still have representation in the Bottom 25.

After all, the Seminoles are one of three ACC teams to be ranked this week. Who are the other two? We'll get to the rankings soon enough, but first a quick reminder on how it all works.

1. My opinion has absolutely nothing to do with the rankings: They are based on a mathematical formula of my creation. Keep this in mind before you call me an idiot, which I know you will.

2. There is real equality to start. Math doesn't play favorites: Before the season begins, defending national champion Clemson is just as good as our defending Bottom 25 champion Texas State. The only factor that matters in the rankings is how you've performed on the field in 2017.

3. Wins and losses mean more than anything: I have a lot of different statistics involved, and I factor in strength of schedule (remember, everybody begins the season with the same SOS), but at the end of the day whether you won or lost is going to mean more than anything else. Also, my formula doesn't have much respect for FCS teams.

4. I won't share the formula: I just don't want to. I'm not a mathematician. I know my formula isn't perfect. I don't think a perfect formula can exist, so I don't share it because I don't care what anybody thinks about it. So don't ask.

The Bottom 25
Boston College 1-2: On a day when both TCU and Florida completed Hail Marys, Boston College, which practically invented the play, decided to run out the clock at the end of a first-half loss against Notre Dame instead of chucking one up. This is their reward. (Last Week: Not Ranked)
South Alabama 1-2: Sorry, Jags, but a win over Alabama A&M isn't enough to escape The Bottom 25. (2)
Idaho 1-2: Idaho nearly pulled off an upset of Western Michigan but couldn't hold on. (NR)
FIU 1-1: The Panthers game against Indiana this week was canceled in the wake of Hurricane Irma. (22)
Missouri 1-2: Think of all the SEC coaches that entered 2017 on the hot seat. It'll probably be Barry Odom losing his job first at this rate. (NR)
Utah State 1-2: The Aggies got crushed by Wake Forest, but hey, who doesn't? (NR)
Wyoming 1-2: Would leading Wyoming to a Bottom 25 title help or hurt Josh Allen's draft stock? (NR)
Pitt 1-2: The Panthers allowed four Oklahoma State receivers to finish with at least 100 yards on Saturday. Four! (NR)
BYU 1-3: Ever wonder what it would look like to watch a drunk baby try to walk? Just watch the BYU offense. It can't be much different. (24)
Texas State 1-2: Our defending champions are just hanging out in the middle of the pack, waiting for the right time to strike. (25)
Kent State 1-2: Life's not getting any easier with an angry Louisville to deal with on Saturday. (NR)
UL Lafayette
Louisiana 1-2: The Cajuns looked capable of getting Kevin Sumlin fired on Saturday, but couldn't finish the job. (NR)
San Jose State (1-2): In its three games against FBS programs, San Jose State is losing by an average of 38 points per game. (21)
Florida State 0-1: It says a lot that, in a formula that weighs wins and losses more than anything, Florida State is ranked higher than a team with a victory. The Noles won't be here long. (18)
Oregon State 1-3: Oregon State is making a strong push for Worst Power Five Team in 2017. (20)
UMass 0-4: Four losses by Sept. 20. Slow and steady wins the race, UMass. (12)
UL-Monroe 0-2: The Warhawks hit the road to take on Louisiana in a big Bottom 25 matchup. (11)
Baylor 0-3: Unlike Oregon State, Baylor is yet to win a game. Also unlike Oregon State, Baylor manages to show a level of competency at times. (8)
Nevada 0-3: A loss to Idaho State just shows how much work Jay Norvell has to do. (9)
Georgia Southern 0-2: Georgia Southern had the week off. We're grateful. (7)
Charlotte 0-3: The 49ers lost to North Carolina A&T on Saturday, and I'm not sure I consider it an upset. (6)
Georgia State 0-2: Bruises will heal. That check from Penn State will clear. Georgia State now moves on to face Charlotte in our Bottom 25 Game of the Century of the Week. (3)
UTEP 0-3: Congratulations to UTEP for being the first team to fire its offensive coordinator this season. (5)
Bowling Green 0-3: I don't think the Falcons will be leaving The Bottom Five anytime soon. (4)
East Carolina 0-3: The Pirates had a 17-7 lead on Virginia Tech after the first quarter. They ended up losing 64-17. That's championship effort. (1)

No Longer Ranked: Temple (23), Florida (19), Rutgers (17), North Carolina (16), Western Michigan (15), Arkansas State (14), Buffalo (13), Florida Atlantic (10)
