Tigers' Drew Ward: Signs minors deal with Tigers
Ward signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Saturday, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.
Ward was at least a fringe prospect at one point in his career, but he's now a 26-year-old with no big-league experience to his name. He's only played 47 career Triple-A games, posting a modest .255/.309/.448 slash line.

Nationals' Drew Ward: Sent back to minor league camp
Ward was returned to the Nationals minor league camp Monday, The Washington Post reports.
He didn't look out of place during his time with the big club, homering twice in 10 games. Ward will return to Double-A Harrisburg to begin the season, but with Anthony Rendon entrenched at third base, the 2013 third-round pick is likely destined to be a bench bat, at best, down the road for Washington.

Nationals' Drew Ward: Receives invite to spring training
Ward will take part in major league spring training with the Nationals, The Washington Post reports.
The 22-year-old made it to Double-A Harrisburg last season after popping 11 home runs in 64 games at High-A, but his numbers took a major step backward against tougher competition. Ward's lack of contact remains his biggest flaw as a prospect -- he hasn't posted a strikeout rate under 25 percent at any level since rookie ball -- and until he finds a way to get that under control, he'll be a long shot to ever see meaningful playing time in the majors.
