Danny Jansen will be looking for his fifth team since the start of the 2024 season after MIlwaukee declined his $12M team option. Jansen was a trade dealine acquisition by Milwaukee from Tampa Bay who served as a serviceable backup when he did play but most of his power production came in his time with the Rays. Jansen's plan of attack is consistent in that he is out there hunting for fastballs or hanging breaking balls to elevate and pull to left field. He has a career .220 batting average with this approach in just over 2000 career plate appearances, so he is what he is. Jansen's defense is going to land him another role, and he makes for a nice second catcher with his power upside if you are one who likes to go cheaper on second catchers because he has failed to hit double-digit homers just once in the past six full seasons.

    Jansen went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's Cactus League game against the Angels. Jansen pieced together a few strong at-bats during Monday's exhibition. He struck for a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to get his squad on the board, and he later drew a six-pitch walk in the top of the fourth. Jansen hit second in the batting order Monday after being slotted in as the No. 3 hitter in his spring debut Saturday, though this is likely a strategy to get him as many at-bats as possible early in spring training games.

Following a poor 2024 campaign, Jansen looked more like his usual self in '25, slashing .215/.321/.399 with 14 homers, 36 RBI and 38 runs scored across 337 regular-season plate appearances between Tampa Bay and Milwaukee.
