Player Outlook
Diego Tornes didn't hit for over-the-fence power in his Dominican Summer League debut, but he checks every other box for a toolsy outfielder heading stateside. Signed for $2.5 million out of Cuba in January 2025, Tornes was one of the youngest players in the DSL and slashed .279/.395/.402 with 24 steals and a 118 wRC+. The 6-foot-2, 178-pound switch hitter logged a 105.4 mph 90th percentile exit velocity, according to Baseball America, so he could develop above-average or better power down the road. He doesn't turn 18 until July, by which time he could be preparing to make his full-season debut at Single-A. He has five-category potential and top 25 overall prospect upside, but he'll need to keep hitting for average while showing signs in the power department.

Mark Bowman@mlbbowman1H agoI took another stab at projecting how the Braves lineups might look without Profar. I promise I included Dominic Smith before yesterday’s homer. As for the $15M, would it be better spent before the Trade Deadline? Tell me why you hate my lineups. https://t.co/q75oqW5vt3 -
Mark Bowman@mlbbowman3H agoHave you heard (read) the one about two Braves icons walking in a room to talk to the current team? Murph talked about mental strength and Chipper explained the cat and mouse game he played with pitchers https://t.co/4H16dJESJC -

Mark Bowman@mlbbowman18H agoDale Murphy used a Novak Djokovic interview to stress the value of developing mental strength and Chipper Jones talked about how he’d attempt to bait a certain pitch from a pitcher. The two Braves legends enjoyed talking to the current team this morning https://t.co/rXwmJgdmOw -

Atlanta Braves@Braves22H agoThe #Braves today optioned RHP Jhancarlos Lara to Triple-A Gwinnett, and reassigned RHP Austin Pope and INFs Jim Jarvis, Alex Lodise and Luke Waddell to minor league camp. Atlanta now has 54 active players in camp. -

David O'Brien@DOBrienATL1D agoRT @Jake_Mintz: Jurickson Profar’s selfishness put his Atlanta teammates in a tough spot… again. On a weird day at Braves camp. 🔗https://… -
David O'Brien@DOBrienATL2D agoTo recap the terrible decisions re: Profar. He’ll serve a season-long suspension, after an 80-game suspension last season. Assuming #Braves cut him and eat $15M sal in 2027, they will spend $21M for 80 games from him, and he’ll have blown about $21M for twice getting popped. D’oh
