Jonathan Brown: Likely to be promoted
Brown is expected to be the Jaguars' starting kicker following news that Josh Lambo (hip) was placed on season-ending injured reserve Monday, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports.
Brown suited up Week 6 against the Lions, making one of two field goals and his lone extra-point attempt. He's next up in the pecking order with Lambo shut down, but Brown's stint could be short-lived. The Jaguars signed Aldrick Rosas to the practice squad Monday, and although he has two games remaining on a suspension, he has a chance to secure the starting job afterward. Brown will need to prove to be a dependable option before Rosas' ban expires.

Jonathan Brown: Back in Jacksonville
The Jaguars added Brown to their practice squad Saturday, per the NFL's official transaction wire.
Brown made his NFL debut last week with Josh Lambo (hip) on IR, connecting on one of two field-goal attempts and making one extra point. The Louisville product was let go after Lambo was activated, but he'll still get the opportunity to work for another chance on an active roster should injuries occur in Jacksonville or around the league.

Jonathan Brown: Done in Jacksonville
The Jaguars cut Brown on Thursday.
Jacksonville's decision to part ways with Brown coincides with Josh Lambo (hip) being activated from IR. In his sole start for the Jaguars, Week 6 against Detroit, Brown converted one of two field-goal attempts and his only extra-point try.

Jaguars' Jonathan Brown: Misses one kick in debut
Brown made his only extra-point attempt and one of two field-goal attempts during Sunday's 34-16 loss to the Lions.
The 27-year-old made his NFL debut and converted from 31 yards during the first quarter for his first field goal, but he missed on his second attempt when he hit the right upright. Josh Lambo (hip) is expected to return to practice this week, which figures to be the beginning of the end for Brown's time on the active roster, though it remains unclear if Lambo will be ready for Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Jaguars' Jonathan Brown: Joins Jags' active roster
Brown was promoted to Jacksonville's active roster from the practice squad Monday.
Stephen Hauschka missed both his field-goal attempts during Sunday's loss to the Texans, so he was cut in favor of Brown heading into Week 5. Brown went undrafted out of Louisville in 2016 and has been unable to see the field while spending time with the Bengals and 49ers. He'll serve as Jacksonville's fill-in kicker while Josh Lambo (hip) remains on injured reserve.

Jonathan Brown: Waived by Jacksonville
Brown was waived by the Jaguars on Monday, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
The 27-year-old signed a reserve/future contract after the end of the regular season, but he was never likely to supplant Josh Lambo in Jacksonville. Brown will now hope to receive another opportunity elsewhere.

Jonathan Brown: Waived by 49ers
Brown was waived by the 49ers on Friday.
It is unclear why the 49ers waited this long to waive Brown, as his exit was a given once the team and kicker Robbie Gould ended their contract standoff on July 15. Nonetheless, the 26-year-old Louisville product will now set his sights in search of a new opportunity.

49ers' Jonathan Brown: Secures two-year pact
Brown signed a two-year contract with the 49ers on Friday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Brown has lost the kicker battle in Cincinnati three years in a row, so he'll look to challenge Robbie Gould in San Francisco. Brown looks to be insurance in case Gould, 36, gets injured. It's Gould's job to lose, as he has converted 82 of his last 85 field-goal attempts (96 percent), and the 49ers put the franchise tag on him in February.

Bengals' Jonathan Brown: Signs with Cincinnati
The Bengals signed Brown to a reserve/future contract Monday, Laurel Pfahler of the Dayton Daily News reports.

Jonathan Brown: Signed to Bengals' practice squad
Brown signed with the Bengals' practice squad Thursday, Jay Morrison of the Dayton Daily News reports.
Brown, an undrafted second-year kicker out of Lousiville, originally signed with Cincinnati in May 2016 before suffering an undisclosed injury in spring workouts. He was then subsequently placed on injured reserve, only to be waived with an injury settlement. Brown eventually returned in January 2017, but he lost out in a three-man competition and was released prior to training camp. The current Bengals kicker, Randy Bullock, is signed through 2018, so Brown is essentially returning to the team to serve as outside competition come offseason workouts.
