  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Seven catches in 2025

Smartt caught seven of nine targets for 52 yards while dressing for 15 games in the 2025 season. Smartt played mostly on special teams and drew at least one target in only three of his 15 appearances for the Jets. He spent the previous three seasons with the Chargers and has just one touchdown catch in 53 regular-season NFL games. The 27-year-old Smartt's set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Paces team's TEs again

Smartt caught two of three targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 42-10 loss to the Patriots. Smartt has stepped up in the absence of Mason Taylor (neck), catching seven of eight targets for 52 yards over the past two games. Prior to this relatively productive stretch, Smartt had just one target all season. Smartt and Jeremy Ruckert could maintain larger roles if Taylor sits out the regular-season finale against the Bills.

  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Five receptions in Week 16

Smartt recorded five catches for 34 yards on five targets in Sunday's 29-6 loss to the Saints. Smartt took the field for 20 of the Jets' 66 snaps on offense, with his 30 percent snap share placing him behind Jeremy Ruckert (67 percent) and ahead of Jelani Woods (20 percent) among New York tight ends. Though Smartt's five catches ranked first on the team, he's nonetheless likely to see his role in the passing game fade in Week 17 against the Patriots if top tight end Mason Taylor (neck) is able to play following a two-game absence.

  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Active for Week 15

Smartt (concussion) is active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Smartt entered the league's concussion protocol following the Jets' Week 14 loss to the Dolphins. He ended the week with a full practice Friday and has been given the green light to play Sunday after being evaluated by an independent neurologist. Smartt will have the opportunity to serve as the Jets' TE2 behind Jeremy Ruckert due to Mason Taylor (neck) being inactive.

  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Questionable vs. Jacksonville

Smartt (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Smartt was able to practice Friday without limitations, but he'll need to pass an evaluation from an independent neurologist in order to clear the league's concussion protocol ahead of Sunday's game. The fourth-year pro has mostly served on special teams this season, but he could see an expanded role on offense Sunday behind Jeremy Ruckert due to the absence of Mason Taylor (neck).

  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Limited with concussion

Smartt (concussion) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Smartt entered the league's concussion protocol after sustaining an injury late in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. The tight end's upgrade to limited participation means he is progressing through the league's protocol. The 27-year-old will have just one more practice to pass an independent neurological exam and upgrade to full participation in an attempt to play Sunday against the Jaguars.

  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Logs full practice Wednesday

Smartt (quadriceps) was a full participant at practice Wednesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Smartt sat out Week 8 at Cincinnati with a quadriceps injury prior to the Jets' bye in Week 9, but he's now on track to suit up in Week 10 versus the Browns. Of his 46 snaps so far this season, 45 have come on special teams.

  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Nursing quadriceps injury

Smartt did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to a quadriceps injury. Smartt served exclusively on special teams during the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Panthers, and he appears to have picked up a quad injury in the process. He'll have two more opportunities to practice and avoid an injury tag ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals.

  • Jets' Stone Smartt: Scores 24-yard TD in Saturday's win

Smartt caught his only target for a 24-yard touchdown in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers. Smartt's touchdown catch came in the third quarter, well after all of the Jets' starters had departed. He's behind 2025 second-round pick Mason Taylor (ankle) and Jeremy Ruckert on the depth chart, but Smartt's intriguing pass catching ability could earn him a role on offense come the regular season, especially if Taylor misses time as a result of his high-ankle sprain.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Puts up career-high marks

Smartt played in 15 regular-season games in 2024, making 16 catches (on 19 targets) for 208 yards. Smartt's reception and yardage totals were career highs, despite playing 122 offensive snaps less in 2024 than he had in 2023. The Old Dominion product is set to be a restricted free agent in March and is a candidate to return to the squad in 2025, depending on how the Chargers rework their tight-end corps with only Will Dissly under contract for next season.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Three receptions in win

Smartt caught all three of his targets for 37 yards in the 34-27 win over the Broncos on Thursday. Hayden Hurst returned off injured reserve after missing the past five weeks due to a hip injury, but the veteran played only eight snaps, hardly carving into Smartt's playing time. In addition, Will Dissly appears closer to returning after missing the past two games due to a shoulder injury, which would also relegate Smartt to at minimum the No. 2 spot in the tight end rotation come Week 16. Given the compiling playing time factors, Smartt's run as a productive fantasy option could be coming to a close.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Smartt is worth using as a low-end No. 1 option in Week 16 against the Broncos. He has scored at least eight PPR points in each of his past two games, and he had five catches for 50 yards on six targets in Week 15 against Tampa Bay in the first outing without Will Dissly. Dissly (shoulder) is expected to miss Week 16 again, and the Broncos have allowed two tight ends in the past five games to score at least 20.4 PPR points.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Week 16 Streamers (TE Preview)

Unlike Strange, I don't view Smartt as a top-12 option. I don't like the matchup as much against Denver and Smartt only saw six targets last week. Still, I would start him over Kyle Pitts or Cole Kmet and he's my second-favorite streaming option.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Sleeper TEs

Will Dissly (shoulder) is out for the Chargers in Week 15 against Tampa Bay, and Smartt is worth using as a starter in deeper leagues. Smartt came on for Dissly in Week 14 at Kansas City and had three catches for 54 yards on three targets. This week, he's facing a Tampa Bay defense that is No. 6 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends, and six of the past seven tight ends against the Buccaneers have scored at least 12.7 PPR points. Tampa Bay is also without standout safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (knee), and the Chargers might need Smartt with Ladd McConkey (knee) banged up.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Week 15 Streamers (TE Preview)

The Buccaneers have allowed a tight end to score at least 12 PPR Fantasy points in six of their last seven games. The two most recent were Tommy Tremble and Michael Mayer. Even Kyle Pitts had two good games against this defense. There's even more upside for Smartt if Ladd McConkey misses another game.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Limited in practice Wednesday

Smartt (ankle) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday. Smartt has been sidelined for the Chargers' last two regular-season games due to an ankle injury. He'll have two more chances this week to increase his practice participation ahead of Sunday's game against Cincinnati.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Won't play Week 10

Smartt (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against Tennessee, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Smartt has been limited in practice all week due to an ankle injury, but he hasn't progressed enough to suit up Sunday. His next chance to play will be Week 11 against the Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 17. Tucker Fisk was elevated from the Chargers practice squad to the active roster Saturday, and he will serve as the No. 3 tight end behind Will Dissly and Hayden Hurst.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Inactive Sunday

Smartt (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's matchup with the Browns. No surprise here, as Smartt was deemed doubtful for Sunday's contest. He was unable to practice throughout the week due to an ankle injury. In his absence, Hayden Hurst and Eric Tomlinson will be the backup options at tight end behind Will Dissly.
... See More ... See Less
  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Doubtful for Sunday

Smartt (ankle) is listed as doubtful ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Browns. Smartt was unable to practice all week after likely sustaining an ankle injury in the Chargers' Week 8 win over the Saints, so it's no surprise that he's not expected to play Sunday. If the Old Dominion product is unable to suit up, the Chargers' tight end room will likely consist of Will Dissly, Hayden Hurst and Eric Tomlinson.

  • Chargers' Stone Smartt: Healthy scratch

Smartt (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Broncos, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Smartt will be the odd man out at tight end for the Chargers after appearing in all 12 games for the team this season. The team will opt to dress Nick Vannett and Stephen Anderson as their No. 3 and No. 4 tight ends behind Gerald Everett and Donald Parham, respectively.
