  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Three catches vs. Tampa Bay

Legette caught three of four targets for 22 yards during Saturday's 16-14 loss to the Buccaneers. Legette's three catches Saturday marked his highest total in a game since the Week 12 loss to the 49ers. The 2024 first-round pick had a costly drop in the first quarter that cost the Panthers a first down, but he was otherwise perfect the rest of the way. On the season, Legette caught 35 of 64 targets for 363 yards and three touchdowns across 15 appearances. The Panthers now need the Falcons to beat the Saints during their Week 18 clash to force a three-way tie for the NFC South title. In that scenario, Carolina would hold the tiebreaker and host a wild-card playoff game.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Struggles in Week 17

Legette caught his lone target for three yards during Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Seahawks. Despite the fact that the second-year wideout saw a sizeable workload (28 offensive snaps) during Sunday's loss, seven other Panthers topped Legette in receiving yards on the day. His role in Carolina's receiving corps appears to be shrinking, as he's caught just five of nine targets for 55 yards across the team's last four games. On the season, Legette has amassed 341 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 32 receptions. He's expected to operate as the Panthers' No. 3 wideout in a Week 18 matchup against the Buccaneers with the NFC South, and a playoff spot, on the line with a Carolina win. Note that the Panthers can also win the division if the Falcons win their next two games, no matter what Carolina does in the finale.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: One catch vs. Tampa Bay

Legette caught one of three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Buccaneers. The second-year pro has now caught just seven of 13 targets for 74 yards over Carolina's last four contests. He appears to have been passed by Jalen Coker in the Panthers' receiving corps, as the latter has tallied 213 yards and two touchdowns on 14 receptions during that span. Legette remains Carolina's second-leading receiver on the season with 338 yards across 13 appearances, but he's unlikely to carry much fantasy value in the Week 17 matchup against the Seahawks.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Continues to underwhelm Sunday

Legette caught two of three targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Saints. Sunday's loss marked Legette's eighth game of the season with two or fewer receptions, though he still finished with the second-most receiving yards on the Panthers. The second-year pro has now caught 30 of 56 targets for 326 yards and three touchdowns across 12 appearances this year. Offensive consistency issues in Carolina likely make Legette too risky a fantasy option for a Week 16 matchup against the Buccaneers.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Just two targets vs. Rams

Legette caught one of two targets for one yard in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Rams. The second-year pro from South Carolina didn't benefit from the Panthers' run-heavy approach (40 rush attempts) during Sunday's win, failing to reach double-digit receiving yards for the third time this season. When Carolina did pass, Legette was outshined by Jalen Coker and Tetairoa McMillan, who combined to catch five of eight targets for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Legette now has 28 catches on 53 targets for 287 yards and three touchdowns through 11 games, and his week-to-week volatility makes him a risky fantasy option for the remainder of the year.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Three catches in Week 12 loss

Legette brought in three of five targets for 22 yards in the Panthers' 20-9 loss to the 49ers on Monday night. Legette tied with Jalen Coker for second in receptions on the Panthers for the night, although that equated to very modest yardage during what was an uninspiring performance for Bryce Young. Legette was coming off his second-highest receiving yardage total (83) of the season in Week 11 against the Falcons, so Monday night's downturn was particularly glaring. Legette next faces a talented Rams secondary in a Week 13 home matchup Sunday.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Opens week with full practice

Panthers head coach Dave Canales said that Legette (hip) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Legette didn't return to this past Sunday's 30-27 overtime win over the Falcons after exiting late in the fourth quarter due to a hip issue, but his ability to open Week 12 prep as a full participant suggests he was likely held out mostly as a precaution. Assuming Legette incurs no setbacks with the hip during practice sessions Friday and Saturday, he should head into Monday's game in San Francisco without an injury designation. Despite his early exit, the second-year wideout turned in one of his best games as a pro in the Week 11 victory, finishing with four catches for 83 yards and a touchdown on eight targets.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Expects to play through hip issue

Legette (hip) said that he anticipates being available for Monday's game against the 49ers, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Before injuring his hip late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 30-27 overtime win over the Falcons and not returning, Legette delivered one of his best performances of the season, finishing the afternoon with four catches for 83 yards and a touchdown on eight targets. Though Legette acknowledged Tuesday that he's still banged up two days after the game, he's optimistic that he'll suit up in San Francisco, especially given that he'll have an extra day to heal up before the Panthers resume practicing Thursday.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Blanked in Week 10

Legette was targeted just once and didn't record a reception in Sunday's 17-7 loss to the Saints. The second-year wideout from South Carolina went without a catch for the first time this season in the Week 10 loss. He was overshadowed by Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker, who led Carolina's wide receivers with 60 and 21 yards, respectively. Since Legette's breakout performance in the Week 7 win over the Jets (9-92-1), he's caught just three of seven targets for 39 yards over the past three games. With the Panthers' passing attack continuing to struggle, Legette likely won't carry much fantasy value in the Week 11 matchup against the Falcons.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Getting concussion check

Legette is being evaluated for a possible concussion during Sunday's game at Green Bay, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. At the end of a 22-yard connection with QB Bryce Young in the second quarter, Legette endured a hit to the helmet and was clearly shaken up. If he's diagnosed with a concussion, Legette will be out for the rest of Week 9 and subject to clearance from an independent neurologist for his next game action.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Misses practice with illness

Legette sat out Thursday's practice due to an illness. Legette didn't appear on the Panthers' initial injury report that was released Wednesday, so the illness is likely something that cropped up Wednesday night or Thursday morning. So long as Legette is able to get back on the practice field in some capacity Friday, he should have a good chance at gaining clearance to suit up this Sunday at Green Bay.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Quiet with two receptions in loss

Legette brought in two of three targets for 17 yards in the Panthers' 40-9 loss to the Bills on Sunday. One week after posting a career-best 9-92-1 line against the Jets, Legette saw a significant downturn in the lopsided loss. The second-year wideout's Week 7 breakout is more or less an outlier, considering Legette has topped out at three receptions and 31 receiving yards otherwise in terms of single-game highs. Legette will take a middling 19-159-2 line on 34 targets over six games into a Week 9 road trip to Green Bay.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Career day in win

Legette caught nine of 11 targets for 92 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Jets. The 2024 first-round pick had the best game of his pro career in the Week 7 win, setting personal highs in both receptions (nine) and receiving yards (92). He led the Panthers' receiving corps in catches, yards and touchdowns, while Tetairoa McMillan, Jimmy Horn and Jalen Coker combined for just four catches for 41 yards on nine targets. Legette has now hauled in 17 of 31 targets for 142 yards and two touchdowns across five appearances this season. He's expected to continue operating as the Panthers' No. 2 wideout and primary deep threat heading into the Week 8 matchup against the Bills.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Resumes practicing in full

Legette (hamstring) was a full participant at Wednesday's walkthrough. Legette looks set to return from his two-game absence and take the field Sunday versus the Dolphins. Head coach Dave Canales confirmed as much, saying Wednesday that "we are getting [Legette] back" for Week 5. The second-year pro drew 15 combined targets across Carolina's first two regular-season games but was tremendously unproductive with those opportunities, totaling just eight receiving yards. He'll rejoin Tetairoa McMillan and Hunter Renfrow as a starter in three-wide sets versus Miami and look to display better chemistry with quarterback Bryce Young.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Labeled day-to-day

Panthers coach Dave Canales said Monday that Legette (hamstring) is day-to-day, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Legette has missed back-to-back games and was unable to practice in any capacity en route to being ruled out for Week 4, but it appears he has a better chance to return Week 5 to take on the Dolphins on Sunday, Oct. 5. Across two regular-season appearances so far, the 2024 first-round pick has secured just four of 15 targets for eight yards.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Out Sunday

Legette (hamstring) won't play Sunday against the Patriots. Legette, who was unable to practice this week, thus will target a potential return to action Sunday, Oct. 5 against the Dolphins. In Legette's absence this weekend, David Moore, Hunter Renfrow and Brycen Tremayne are candidates to see added Week 4 snaps alongside fellow WR Tetairoa McMillan (calf, questionable).

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Remains sidelined Thursday

Legette (hamstring) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. Legette got in a trio of limited practices last week with the hamstring issue but was ultimately inactive for Week 3 against the Falcons. He's now logging DNPs this week, and it's unclear if he experience some sort of setback with the hamstring. David Moore played a position-high 97 percent of the offensive snaps last Sunday versus Atlanta and would be in line for increased reps again if Legette is unable to play.

  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Missing practice Wednesday

Legette (hamstring) is not participating in the early portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Legette sat out Carolina's blowout win over the Falcons in Week 3, but ahead of the contest he had logged a trio of limited practices. By comparison, his lack of participation Wednesday seems to represent a step in the wrong direction. The second-year pro will have two more chances to get back on the practice field before Sunday's road matchup against New England.
... See More ... See Less
  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Sitting out in Week 3

Legette (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Legette earned significant snap shares (78 and 80 percent) in the first two games of the season, but his combined line of 4-8-0 on 15 targets to date doesn't reflect that fact. He then was limited in practice during Week 3 prep due to a hamstring issue that will sideline him Sunday. In Legette's stead, David Moore is expected to start alongside top WR Tetairoa McMillan, while Hunter Renfrow, Brycen Tremayne and Dalevon Campbell will be the other available options at the position.
... See More ... See Less
  • Panthers' Xavier Legette: Questionable for Week 3

Legette (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina. Legette was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday, never quite progressing to full. Brycen Tremayne was Carolina's No. 4 receiver last week, but David Moore and Jimmy Horn also could help fill the gap if Legette ends up inactive ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. Given his poor form the past two weeks, Legette's absence wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for the Carolina offense.
