Lions' Danny Amendola: Officially re-ups with Lions
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola agreed Wednesday with the Lions on a one-year, $5 million contract extension, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Amendola's extension includes $4.5 million guaranteed and carries a maximum value of $6 million when incentives are included. The 34-year-old recorded 62 catches for 678 yards and one touchdown across 15 regular-season games with Detroit last season, and he stands to once again provide the team with consistency in the slot. In 2019, Amendola quietly had seven games with eight or more targets.

Lions' Danny Amendola: To re-sign with Lions
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola will re-sign with the Lions on a one-year deal, Peter Schrager of Good Morning Football reports.

Amendola hauled in 62 passes for 678 yards and one touchdown in 15 games for the Lions last season. The 34-year-old will be entering his 12th season in 2020 and second in Detroit. He figures to once again help out in the slot.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Throws touchdown pass
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught two of four targets for 16 yards and completed his one pass attempt for a 19-yard touchdown during Sunday's 23-20 loss to Green Bay.

Amendola played a big role in the Lions' first-half surge by faking an end-around run and finding quarterback David Blough for a wide-open touchdown on a trick play in the first quarter. However, the veteran also committed an egregious 15-yard penalty in the fourth frame by hitting a defenseless player on the sidelines after a play had ended, which helped propel a Packers' comeback attempt that ended with a walk-off field goal in the closing seconds of the game. This was a disappointing end to the Lions' three-win campaign, and Amendola finishes the season with 62 receptions (97 targets) for 678 yards and one score. When the new league starts this spring, he'll become an unrestricted free agent as he prepares for his age-34 season.

Lions' Danny Amendola: No. 2 receiver on quiet passing day
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught two of three targets for 21 receiving yards during Sunday's 27-17 loss to Denver.

A week after racking up eight catches for 102 yards on 13 targets against Tampa Bay, Amendola finished second among Detroit receivers in yardage against the Broncos. Unfortunately for those with vested interest in Amendola's fantasy stock, he was the second-leading receiver on an afternoon in which the Lions managed just 117 yards through the air. Amendola is still averaging eight targets per game over his past four outings in spite of his quiet afternoon Sunday, but he carries a 13-game scoring drought heading into a matchup against a Green Bay defense that enters Monday Night Football ranking No. 2 in the NFL with just 146 receptions allowed to opposing wideouts on the season.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Stellar day in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola brought in eight of 13 targets for 102 yards in the Lions' 38-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.

With Marvin Jones (IR, ankle) and Marvin Hall (IR, foot) unavailable, Amendola took center stage with coverage tilting heavily toward Kenny Golladay. The veteran possession receiver narrowly missed a touchdown, but he still comfortably paced the team in receptions and receiving yards for the afternoon. Amendola also tied his season high in receptions while posting his third 100-yard effort of the campaign overall, and he could be primed for another heavy workload in a Week 16 interconference battle against the Broncos.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Co-leader in targets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught five of eight targets for 34 yards during Sunday's 20-7 loss to Minnesota.

After seeing eight targets from David Blough last Sunday while tight end T.J. Hockenson (ankle) saw 11, Amendola wasn't among the teammates to benefit from Hockenson's placement on injured reserve this past week. Instead, Kenny Golladay (eight targets) and Marvin Jones (seven) were the ones to see a bump. In any case, there's no question that there are more targets up for grabs in Hockenson's absence, and it's possible Amendola could be the one to benefit as soon as Detroit's Week 15 game against a Buccaneers defense that has allowed the second-most receiving yards per game in 2019.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Draws eight targets from new QB
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught three of eight targets for 32 yards during Thursday's 24-20 loss to Chicago.

Despite a change at quarterback from Jeff Driskel (hamstring) to third stringer David Blough, Amendola essentially matched the 32.3 receiving yards per game he had averaged in three contests with Driskel at the helm. However, Amendola easily could have done better had he been able to bring in a perfect over-the-shoulder pass that Blough tossed to him in the final minutes of the game. While a bigger outing wasn't meant to be, Amendola investors can at least take solace in the fact he saw as many targets as he did in the past two games with Driskel. Not to mention, Amendola now appears to be the primary punt returner with Jamal Agnew (ankle) banged up and Marvin Hall (foot) on injured reserve.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Another quiet game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught all three of his targets for 21 yards during Sunday's 19-16 loss to Washington.

Yet again a distant third in playing time among Lions receivers behind Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, Amendola is now averaging 5.7 targets, 3.7 receptions and 32.3 receiving yards through three games with backup quarterback Jeff Driskel. It's hard to be optimistic about him Week 12 with Matthew Stafford (back) unlikely to return for Thursday's Thanksgiving Day game against the Bears.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Team leader in receiving yards
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught four of five targets for 47 yards during Sunday's 35-27 loss to Dallas.

The Lions offense was more competitive than most thought they'd be, and Amendola ultimately was its leading receiver despite being in a three-way tie for the team lead in targets. However, as Marvin Jones showed Sunday with two trips to the end zone, receivers playing with Jeff Driskel are probably reliant on touchdowns in order to be of fantasy value. Until Matthew Stafford (back) is able to play again, it'll be hard to trust Amendola to produce even in seemingly soft matchups, like the one Detroit has Sunday at Washington.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Unable to rebound with backup QB
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught four of eight targets for 29 yards during Sunday's 20-13 loss to Chicago.

The unexpected absence of starting quarterback Matthew Stafford (back) likely doomed Amendola's fantasy potential from the jump. While it can be argued that he should've had even more targets given how often he seemed to get open, Jeff Driskel's accuracy woes hardly allowed Amendola to produce anyway. If there's a bright side to Driskel potentially starting another game Week 11 against Dallas, it's that he targeted Amendola more than Stafford did (6.3 targets per game) on average. Also, it sounds like Stafford was able to gobble up the majority of practice reps last week, and the Driskel-to-Amendola connection could benefit if the backup gets the majority of the snaps this week.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Production dips
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught three of five targets for 29 yards during Sunday's 31-24 loss to Oakland.

Amendola was once again in the starting lineup but yet again saw less playing time (43 snaps) than Marvin Jones (63) and Kenny Golladay (58). After collecting 16 of 19 passes for 200 yards over the previous two games, Sunday was evidence for even the most optimistic Amendola supporters that the veteran's early-season chest injury can't totally be to blame for the veteran's concurrent downturn in production in Weeks 2 through 6, a disappointing stretch that made it confusing as to whether Amendola could sustainably be the fantasy force of Weeks 1, 7 and 8 that averaged over seven catches and 100 yards per outing. Unfortunately, as was made evident Sunday, there probably will be plenty of more games when Jones (10 targets) and Golladay (seven) see more attention from the quarterback even with Amendola now fully healthy.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Another productive day
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught all eight of his targets for 95 yards during Sunday's 31-26 victory over the Giants.

Kenny Golladay stole the show with a pair of touchdown catches, but Amendola was crucial in helping Detroit sustain drives - just like he was last week against the Vikings. In fact, Amendola has now been the target of almost a quarter of Matthew Stafford's pass attempts over the past two games. While fantasy owners should still keep in mind that Amendola seems to have a low floor in this offense -- he caught just five of seven targets for 43 yards in three games from Week 2 through Week 6 -- it's possible the chest injury that forced him to miss one of those games played a role in that lowly output. In any case, it's clear that Stafford is becoming rather fond of the veteran wideout, and there's plenty of reason to believe the pair could have another productive outing Week 9 against the Raiders.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Leads team in receiving yards
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught eight of 11 targets for 105 yards during Sunday's 42-30 loss to the Vikings.

Amendola led the team in receiving yards while finishing behind only Marvin Jones in targets and catches. He had struggled to the tune of just five receptions for 43 yards since Week 1, so this effort was a bit out of the blue for the veteran. Amendola, who is still capable of thriving under the right conditions in a capable Lions offense, should pose a threat again next Sunday against the Giants.

Lions' Danny Amendola: One target in return from injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola caught his only target for a six-yard gain during Monday's 23-22 loss to the Packers.

Making his return from an unspecified chest injury, Amendola logged a modest 20 offensive snaps during a game in which Detroit made heavy use of multi-tight-end sets. Five other Lions receivers saw more targets, including tight end T.J. Hockenson, who got six targets and is looking like Matthew Stafford's preferred short-area target. Unless he starts getting as involved in the offense as he was in Week 1, it won't be easy to trust Amendola as a fantasy option.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Suiting up Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola (chest) is listed as active Monday in Green Bay

Making his return to action for the first time since Week 3, Amendola appears to be past the chest injury that forced him to miss one contest. On the season, he's been hit-or-miss, going for 104 yards and a TD on 13 targets in Week 1 while combining for a 4-37-0 line on six targets in his other two appearances. Amendola will look to bounce back against a Packers defense that has allowed an NFL-worst 17.3 yards per catch to wide receivers to date.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Deemed questionable for Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola (chest) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Packers.

Amendola was a limited participant in practice all week, and his final status likely won't be revealed until 90 minutes before Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Expect Marvin Hall to bump up to the No. 3 wideout role if Amendola can't go.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Limited again Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola (chest) was estimated as a limited practice participant Friday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Lions held a walkthrough Friday, but Amendola would have maintained his activity level for a second straight session, if the team had held one. He'll have one more chance to prove his health in advance of Monday's game at Green Bay.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Restricted in practice
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola (chest) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

The veteran slot man hasn't completely moved past the chest injury he suffered in Week 3, even after sitting out the Week 4 loss to the Chiefs and benefiting from a Week 5 bye. That said, his ability to practice in some fashion to begin the current week offers some early hope that Amendola will be ready to go by the time Monday's game against the Packers arrives.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Logs another practice
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola (chest) participated in practice Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Amendola suffered a chest injury in Week 3 and subsequently missed Week 4 despite logging a limited practice the Friday before the game. Having since had Detroit's bye week to recover, he has a decent chance to play Monday in Green Bay. Amendola's level of participation on the official injury reports Thursday through Saturday will provide more clarity about his availability.

Lions' Danny Amendola: Sitting out Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Amendola (chest) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Chiefs.

After managing just one limited practice this week due to a chest injury, Amendola has upheld a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network earlier Sunday that he was iffy to play Week 4. Amendola doesn't have a direct backup out of the slot, which could mean more routes for tight ends T.J. Hockenson and Jesse James.
