Rey Maualuga: Waived by Dolphins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga was waived by the Dolphins on Saturday following a late-night arrest Friday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

There are no details on the alleged incident, but it is serious enough to result in the Dolphins letting Maualuga go. He provided 14 tackles in his previous three games for the Dolphins, and also started four of the last six games. It remains to be seen how the defense will adjust, but Mike Hull figures to see a sizable increase in snaps at middle linebacker.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Will start Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga will start at middle linebacker Sunday versus the Titans, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga has been practicing with the first team all week and will start on first and second down but come out in passing situations. He's expected to see between 25-35 snaps, as the Dolphins may still be worried about his conditioning after just having signed him in late August.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Not on injury report
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (hamstring) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report and is in line to play Sunday against the Titans, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga will be healthy for his first game of the season, and he'll be positioned behind Mike Hull (shoulder) on the depth chart. If Hull is unable to play Sunday, Maualuga could be slated for a high snap count, but he shouldn't be considered an IDP talent otherwise.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Not ready to play
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints at Wembley Stadium.

Maualuga, who continues to bounce back from a hamstring issue, will thus look to make his debut with the Dolphins next Sunday against the Titans.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Questionable for Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, Adam H. Beasley of The Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga was able to do an individual workout during Wednesday's practice, but it's unclear whether or not he'll be able to get back into game shape before Sunday. Consider the linebacker a game-time decision as he awaits to be cleared to make his Dolphins debut.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Works out Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (hamstring) took part in individual workouts during Wednesday's practice, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

The Dolphins are still working to get Maualuga in game shape while he recovers from the hamstring injury. If the coaching staff is satisfied with Maualuga's level of activity in the final two days of practices this week, the linebacker could make his team debut Sunday against the Saints.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Out for Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (hamstring) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga did not practice this week and will not make his debut with the Dolphins on Sunday. Second-year linebacker Mike Hull is coming off a big came against the Chargers and is trying to solidify his role at middle linebacker, as Maualuga has yet to make any impact since joining Miami just over a month ago.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Misses practice Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga has been a bit of a mess since the Dolphins signed him late in August. He was out of shape at first and now is dealing with a balky hamstring. The Dolphins lack depth at linebacker so even with the addition of Stephone Anthony via trade Tuesday, it does seem that his roster spot is safe, but his value to the team seems to lessen with each passing day.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Will sit Week 2
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (hamstring) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga sustained a hamstring injury at some point and did not practice this week. The former second-round pick was still returning to football shape prior to the injury, so his status beyond Week 2 remains unclear.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Sits out practice Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga is dealing with a hamstring injury and did not practice Wednesday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

The specifics of the injury are still unknown, but it's hardly a good sign for a player who was still working to get back into football shape. Maualuga signed with the Dolphins almost a month ago but still seems to be lagging behind in regards to his physical conditioning. It remains to be seen what type of role the veteran linebacker would have in Sunday's game against the Chargers, if he is even able to play.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Believes he is ready to play
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga stated Tuesday that if Miami does play Tampa Bay this week that he will be ready to go, Chris Perkins of the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Maualuga was out of shape when signed by Miami after the season ending knee injury to Raekwon McMillan. Even if the Dolphins believe that Maualuga is ready to play, a big if, Mike Hull is still expected to start over him for at least the first few weeks of the season. Maualuga will have to prove to coach Adam Gase in practice that he is truly ready for game action before being active against Tampa Bay.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Could miss season opener
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga may not be ready for the season opener, Jason Lieser of PalmBeachPost.com reports.

The team is concerned that Maualuga is not fit enough to play yet. While it's not ideal that he's not in great football shape right now, the team was certainly aware of this possibility when they brought him in last week. Given the current climate of his progression, Maualuga is unlikely to have any great fantasy impact this season.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Not in game shape
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga needs to lose some weight before the Dolphins will allow him to practice or play in a game, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga's weight currently sits somewhere north of 260 pounds, and the team wants him to get into the 250 range before they consider putting him on the field. Assuming a few conditioning practices does the trick, Maualuga is still expected to compete with Mike Hull for a starting linebacker job.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Won't play Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga first signed with the Dolphins two days ago and is still trying to familiarize himself with the playbook, so the team won't rush him into game action until he gets acclimated. Considering Mauauga's veteran status, a lack of playing time during preseason shouldn't have much of an adverse effect. With the Dolphins' already having lost two linebackers for the season, the team may feel it's best to play it safe and not risk the health of Maualuga until the games count in the standings.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Signs with Dolphins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins on Saturday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Maualuga will likely see ample time as the team's middle linebacker this season following a season-ending ACL injury for rookie second-round pick Raekwon McMillan. The nine-year veteran is expected to contribute mainly on rushing downs, potentially ceding snaps to Mike Hull on passing downs.

Rey Maualuga: Will work out for Miami
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga will work out for the Dolphins on Wednesday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

The Dolphins depth at linebacker has been tested due to the season-ending injuries to Koa Misi (neck) and Raekown McMillan (knee). Maualuga would likely fill a backup role with Miami should he impress during this tryout.

Rey Maualuga: Released by Bengals
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga was released by the Bengals on Saturday.

Maualuga has been with the Bengals since they drafted him in 2009. He spent his first seven seasons as a starter before starting just six of 14 games in 2017. In hindsight, his reduced role last year could be seen as a foreshadowing of his eventual exit. The addition of free agent Kevin Minter likely sealed the deal. Both Minter and Vincent Rey figure to handle a majority of the middle linebacker duties heading into training camp.

Bengals' Rey Maualuga: Inactive Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Bills.

Maualuga started the practice week in a limited capacity but was a full participant on Thursday and Friday, so it's rather surprising the team has decided to sit the veteran Sunday. Look for Vincent Rey to get the spot start in his absence.

Bengals' Rey Maualuga: Full participant in practice Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (fibula) was a full participant in practice Thursday.

The veteran linebacker has been battling through a fibula aliment for the past week, missing Monday's loss to the Giants. However, it now appears as if Maualuga has put the injury behind him and should be available for Sunday's tilt with the Bills. If his reps are limited during the game because of the injury expect Vincent Rey to see increased action.

Bengals' Rey Maualuga: Ruled out Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Maualuga (fibula) has officially been ruled out for Monday's matchup versus the Giants, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.

This news is relatively unsurprising, as Maualuga figured to be a long shot to play. It will be the veteran's first absence this season. Vincent Rey will presumably take over middle linebacker duties while Maualuga is sidelined.
