DETROIT -- The Anaheim Angels' offense made things easy for John Lackey.

Darin Erstad hit a three-run double and Troy Glaus had two RBI to help Anaheim win its fifth straight game Tuesday night with a 10-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Lackey earned his first win of the season. Glaus tripled, doubled and singled, and Vladimir Guerrero also had three hits.

"We've got a lot of guys who can swing the bat," Lackey said. "As long as we've got a few times to hit, we'll be OK most of the time."

Brandon Inge hit his second grand slam in less than a week for the Tigers.

Anaheim shortstop David Eckstein left in the first inning with a strained right groin after hitting a single and scoring the game's first run. He was replaced in the field by Shane Halter and is day-to-day.

"We're going to evaluate him tomorrow to see how sore he is," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.

Lackey (1-3) took a three-hit shutout and a 5-0 lead into the seventh inning, but a double by Carlos Guillen and walks to Carlos Pena and Eric Munson loaded the bases with two outs.

Lackey was replaced by Scot Shields, who gave up the grand slam to Inge. His first career slam came last Friday.

"One of those things, that happens," Lackey said. "We've got the best bullpen in the league. They're going to help me a lot more times than hurt me."

The Angels responded with five runs in the eighth on Erstad's bases-loaded double, Chone Figgins' RBI double and Guerrero's run-scoring single.

"To answer back and get back on the board was important," Scioscia said.

And deflating for Detroit.

"It's frustrating, it's very frustrating," Inge said. "At the same time, you've got to take the highs and lows."

Lackey allowed three runs and four hits in 6 2/3 innings. He walked four and struck out two.

"He kept the ball down, both sides of the plate, and had command of his breaking ball," Glaus said.

Shields went 2 1/3 innings for his first save.

Glaus was 3-for-4. He has nine RBIs in his last five games. Guerrero went 3-for-5.

Detroit starter Nate Cornejo (1-2) allowed four runs - three earned - and seven hits in five innings.

Anaheim scored twice in the first inning. Glaus hit an RBI double, and an error by Inge in left field allowed the second run to score.

Tim Salmon made it 3-0 in the fourth with an RBI single.

It could have been a bigger inning for Anaheim. But after Guerrero singled leading off, he was thrown out by Inge trying to advance to third on Glaus' single.

Glaus' RBI triple in the fifth, which drove in Guerrero, increased the Angels' lead to 4-0.

Halter added an RBI single in the sixth, but Inge threw out Adam Kennedy at the plate.

Notes

  • Angels OF Garret Anderson missed his fifth consecutive game with a sore upper back.
  • Halter played for the Tigers the previous four seasons.
  • Erstad has hit safely in 17 of 20 games and reached base in 19 of 20 this season.
  • Detroit's Bobby Higginson was ejected for arguing a called third strike with plate umpire James Hoye in the seventh.
