SAN DIEGO -- The Colorado Rockies are turning Petco Park into their home away from home.

The Rockies used another solid pitching performance from Aaron Cook and solo homers by Jeromy Burnitz and Todd Greene for a 6-2 win over the San Diego Padres on Saturday for their fifth win in six games at the Padres' new ballpark.

Colorado has won three straight and eight of nine games overall. In their six games at San Diego, the Rockies have outscored the Padres 32-12.

"Everybody's getting it done with the starting pitching, key hits at the right time," Burnitz said. "It's been fun."

The Rockies, with the third-worst road record in the NL at 16-29, have also won four in a row on the road, and eight of 11.

"Momentum is very important," Burnitz said. "Whenever the team is having success, I fully believe it rubs off on everybody."

Cook (4-3) allowed one run on eight hits with three strikeouts and three walks, and pitched out of trouble all day - leaving 10 baserunners stranded in six-plus innings.

He got a big defensive play in the sixth inning when left fielder Matt Holliday made a running catch over his head on Sean Burroughs' fly ball with two outs and runners at second and third.

"I had my slider working today," Cook said. "There was no reason to go to anything else."

Cook has beaten the Padres twice in San Diego this season. In three starts against them, Cook has given up three earned runs in 19 1-3 innings.

"My slider works really well here," Cook said. "I just utilize my defense and I don't worry about it because the ball doesn't carry very well here."

Brian Lawrence (10-6) matched his shortest outing of the season when he lasted only four innings for the Padres, who have lost four in a row.

Cook pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning with a 3-0 lead. Cook allowed an leadoff infield single to Terrence Long, Miguel Ojeda's one-out single and a walk to Khalil Greene. Darren Bragg pinch-hit for Lawrence and struck out before Cook got Burroughs on a comebacker to the mound.

Lawrence was obviously not happy at being pulled so early in the game.

"It's not my call," he said tersely. "There is nothing I can do about it. I'm going to do my job when (manager Bruce Bochy) gives me the chance."

After Aaron Miles gave the Rockies a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the second, Burnitz hit a two-out homer off Lawrence in the third. One inning later, Greene homered to make it 3-0.

Holliday added an RBI single in the fifth that put Colorado ahead 4-0.

Cook allowed Mark Loretta's leadoff double in the seventh, and Jeff Fassero gave up an RBI single to Brian Giles. Steve Reed came in with two outs and Giles on third before retiring Xavier Nady on a groundout.

"I was very confident turning the ball over to our bullpen in that situation," Colorado manager Clint Hurdle said. "They've been doing a great job."

Loretta was 3-for-5 with a double, but popped out against Reed with two outs in the eighth and runners on first and second.

Vinny Castilla hit an RBI double in the ninth, and scored on reliever Rod Beck's two-base throwing error to make it 6-1.

Nady hit an RBI double off Scott Dohmann in the ninth to cut it to 6-2.

The Rockies wasted a good scoring chance in the first inning when Preston Wilson weakly grounded out to Lawrence with the bases loaded and two outs.

Lawrence gave up three runs on six hits, and lost the chance to exceed last season's win total (10) in the first half of this season.

Notes

Helton went 2-for-5 and is hitting .432 in July (16-for-37). ... Cook beat the Padres in San Diego on June 1, allowing one run on six hits in seven innings. ... San Diego stranded a season-high 14 baserunners. ... Castilla's double was the 288th of his career, passing Aurelio Rodriguez on the career list for Mexican-born players. Castilla is already the Mexican leader in homers, RBI, extra-base hits and total bases.
