TORONTO -- Carlos Delgado wanted to savor his latest milestone, not think about the possibility of leaving the Blue Jays after this season.
Delgado hit a three-run homer to become the first Toronto player to drive in 1,000 runs, and David Bush got his first major league win Sunday in the Blue Jays' 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
"Today is today. Whatever happens at the end of the year we'll deal with that later," said Delgado, who is in the last year of a $68 million, four-year contract. "Right now, it was a good day. We won the game, and I got to 1,000 RBI, which is great."
Toronto's career leader in home runs and RBI, Delgado went 1-for-4, raising his average to .208. He homered off Victor Zambrano in the first.
"It's an honor to reach 1,000. It shows that I've been around a long time," Delgado said. "I take a lot of pride in driving in runs. Home runs are fun, but RBIs are going to make you win games."
Delgado entered in a 9-for-60 slump since being activated from the disabled list on July 6. He missed 33 games with a strained ribcage.
"When you lose six weeks, you can't do in two months what you can do in four," he said. "All I want to do is finish up strong."
Toronto completed a three-game sweep of the Devil Rays, who have lost six straight overall and nine in a row on the road. Since moving a season-high two games over .500 on July 3, Tampa Bay has gone 5-15.
Tampa Bay went 0-5 on its trip.
"We've played this game before, that I can tell you," manager Lou Piniella said. "On this road trip, what was it five games? We played it four times."
Bush (1-1) allowed three runs -- one earned -- and eight hits in 7 1/3 innings. In his previous start against Oakland last Tuesday, Bush took a no-hit bid into the eighth inning. Aubrey Huff ended Bush's 17-inning scoreless streak by homering in the sixth.
Teammate Vernon Wells threw a shaving-cream pie in his face after the game.
"I got some shaving cream all over myself, my hair, my nose, my ears, everywhere," Bush said.
Bush was happy for Delgado.
"I know he's been struggling a little bit. He hasn't been putting up the kind of production that we all know he's capable of," Bush said.
Kerry Ligtenberg got five outs for his third save in four chances, completing Toronto's first three-game sweep of Tampa Bay since May 19-21, 1998.
Zambrano (9-7), who allowed five runs and five hits in five innings, hit his first batter of the game, Reed Johnson, then allowed a single to Frank Catalanotto and the home run to Delgado.
Orlando Hudson hit a two-run double in the fourth following an error by second baseman Jorge Cantu.
After Huff homered in the sixth, Tino Martinez singled, Julio Lugo reached on Hudson's error at second and Cantu hit a two-run double.

The Blue Jays purchased the contract
of RHP Sean Douglass and recalled RHP Mike Nakamura from Triple-A
Syracuse. Douglass is to start Monday night's game against the New York
Yankees. He replaces former Cy Young Award winner Pat Hentgen, who
retired Saturday. ... Delgado also is Toronto's career leader in walks,
runs, total bases and slugging percentage. ... Bush was drafted by Tampa
Bay a year before the Blue Jays selected him.
