SAN FRANCISCO -- Manager Felipe Alou will be reminding the San Francisco Giants about smart baserunning.
Pinch-hitter Barry Bonds' popup turned into a bizarre double play because of Dustan Mohr 's blunder on the bases, and the Montreal Expos snapped San Francisco's six-game winning streak with a 6-2 victory Wednesday in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Giants trailed 3-2 when Mohr and Deivi Cruz singled in the eighth inning. That brought up Bonds, the NL's leading hitter, causing the crowd to go crazy.
But the slugger, who did not start after homering twice Tuesday night, could not deliver with one out. He hit a foul pop that Tony Batista caught, and the Montreal third baseman wound up with a double play when Mohr lost track of the outs, wandered off second base and was easily thrown out.
"We're going to have to let people know that the infield fly rule still exists," Alou said. "We've had a few baserunning mistakes the last few games. We had some major opportunities to score but we didn't do it."
Mohr was not available to the media between games.
The Expos broke it open in the ninth, with Brad Wilkerson's RBI double capping a three-run inning.
Jose Vidro homered and drove in three runs and converted reliever Rocky Biddle (4-6) earned the victory as a starter. Vidro's homer was the 100th of his career, and he got the ball after a fan threw it back on the field.
"All I need now is 655 more," Vidro said, referring to Hank Aaron's all-time career record of 755. "I'm happy to win after the tough losses the last two nights."
The Expos held a players-only meeting before the game, apparently to discuss why they didn't get to bat last as the home team in one of the games. The doubleheader was caused because of a rainout in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on May 23, costing the Expos a home game.
"I don't care," Vidro said. "We'll play no matter what. We've still got to play nine innings."
J.T. Snow had three hits for the Giants, including an RBI triple in the first to give San Francisco a 1-0 lead. He matched his career-high hitting streak at 12 games, which he also did in 1997. It's the longest streak by any Giants player this season.
Montreal beat the Giants for the first time in five meetings this season after sweeping San Francisco in seven games last year. The Expos blew the lead in all four of its losses to San Francisco.
Brad Hennessey (1-2), making third major league start since being recalled Aug. 6 from Triple-A Fresno, allowed three earned runs on six hits in six innings. He was optioned to Triple-A Fresno after the game when the Giants activated left-hander Wayne Franklin from the disabled list to start the nightcap.
"I knew the situation would come up in a doubleheader like this," Hennessey said. "I'll just go down there and get my work in and stay on schedule. I'll be ready to come back up when they need me."
Vidro hit a two-run homer in the fourth to right-center, his 13th of the year. It gave Montreal a 2-1 lead.
The Giants tied it in the fourth with three hits off Biddle, including a single by Hennessey that loaded the bases with two outs.

- Bonds started the second game.
- This is the Expos' second doubleheader of the year. They swept the Royals in Kansas City on June 10.
- Franklin had been sidelined since July 29 with a lower back strain.
