Tigers-Indians called off yet again

CBS wire reports

CLEVELAND -- The Detroit Tigers were disrupted by weather for the third time in four days when Tuesday night's game against the Cleveland Indians was rained out after a 55-minute wait.

Detroit's home games Saturday and Sunday against Minnesota was postponed by snow, with one of the games made up Monday.

"That's just the way it is," Tigers manager Alan Trammell said. "We'll have some guys throw and hit in the cages (inside). It might be a problem, but there isn't a darn thing we can do about it."

Trammell said he would change his starting rotation, while Indians manager Eric Wedge moved everybody back one day.

Cleveland right-hander Jake Westbrook (0-4) is scheduled to start Wednesday night against the Tigers, followed by right-hander Kevin Millwood (0-2) on Thursday night.

That would put left-hander C.C. Sabathia (1-0) in line to start a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals at Jacobs Field on Friday night.

Tigers left-hander Nate Robertson (0-2), who was scheduled to start against Cleveland, has been moved back to Friday night in Chicago against the White Sox.

Right-hander Jeremy Bonderman (2-2) and lefty Mike Maroth (1-1) will pitch as scheduled in Cleveland.

  • Former Ohio State linebacker Mike Vrabel, a member of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots had been scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
