CLEVELAND -- Ben Broussard's knack for hitting with the bases loaded hasn't left him during the Cleveland Indians' slow start.

Broussard doubled home three runs and Ryan Ludwick hit a solo homer as Cleveland snapped the Toronto Blue Jays' three-game winning streak with a 6-4 victory Friday night.

"Any time you can come up with guys in scoring position, that's a fun time to swing the bat," Broussard said.

Those chances haven't come often enough for a Cleveland team that entered second-to-last in runs and batting average in the AL. But the Indians won for the third time in four games, improving to 2-8 against left-handed starters and 8-0 when scoring six or more runs.

"It's starting to come around," Indians manager Eric Wedge said.

Bob Howry (3-1) pitched one perfect inning and Bob Wickman worked the ninth for his 10th save in 12 tries.

Broussard hit a three-run double in a four-run first inning off Ted Lilly (1-4).

The left-hander threw 47 pitches and walked four in the inning, including Coco Crisp with the bases loaded to force home the first run. Broussard followed with a line double to right-center -- making the Indians 5-for-26 (.192) with the bases loaded this season.

Broussard continued to produce with the bases full. He's 2-for-3 this season after going 7-for-11 with three homers and 23 RBI with the bases loaded in 2004.

"He's a clutch hitter," Wedge said. "Certain hitters want to be up there in that situation. He thrives on it."

The Blue Jays made it 4-2 in the second. Eric Hinske hit an RBI double, went to third on a passed ball, and scored on a groundout.

Jose Hernandez hit a two-out RBI single in the bottom half to make it 5-2.

Lilly allowed five runs, five walks and three hits over 1 2/3 innings -- the second straight start he failed to get out of the second inning. He is 1-3 with a 14.26 ERA in his last five starts.

"At this point, I'm out of ideas," Lilly said. "I'm thinking of going sidearm. I'm not really at that point yet, but I've thought about it.

"You keep giving them ball one, ball two, you are in for a long night."

Indians starter Jake Westbrook's night was shorter than he wanted. He was deprived of a chance at his second win in eight decisions when he was replaced after a 72-minute rain delay with two outs in the top of the fourth and Cleveland ahead 5-2.

"That's just the way things have gone so far for me this year," Westbrook said. "Anything that could go wrong has gone wrong."

The right-hander gave up two earned runs and two hits in 3 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out five, including the side in the first inning on only 14 pitches.

Westbrook said he wanted to return to the mound, but understood the decision. Wedge said he considered sending him back out, too.

"It was a close call," Wedge said. "But after it got over an hour, that was enough. You don't want to put him in harm's way."

Alex Rios hit the third pitch after the delay from reliever Jason Davis into the right-field seats for his first homer to bring the Blue Jays within 5-4.

Ludwick hit his third homer in the fifth -- the 29th solo shot of 40 homers hit by the Indians.
