ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Hideo Nomo got a well-deserved beer dousing from his teammates.

Nomo allowed two runs in seven innings for his 200th combined major league and Japanese win, leading the Tampa Bay Devil Rays over the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 on Wednesday night.

The win qualified Nomo (4-6) for the Meikyukai, one of two special honors for Japanese players. Membership is automatic after a player reaches 2,000 hits or 200 wins. He is the 16th pitcher and 45th member overall. The other top honor is the Japanese Hall of Fame, where members are elected.

"Everybody poured beer on me, and it was really good fun," Nomo said through an interpreter. "I think it will be a real good memory one day because I got to celebrate with my teammates, and it's really good for the fans."

Nomo gave up four hits and benefited from two batters lining into double plays. He struck out two and walked two in just his second win in his last 11 starts.

"Bravo for him," Tampa Bay manager Lou Piniella said. "It's quite an accomplishment. Proud of him. He's had a great career, and this is a special win."

Prince Fielder got his first two hits in the majors with a pair of doubles, earning his first major league RBI in the ninth with the second one. The son of former major league slugger Cecil Fielder was the Brewers' first-round pick in the 2002 draft.

"It was fun getting that first hit," Fielder said. "I wish we could have won. Now I'm not so wide-eyed. I still felt the butterflies, but I felt good."

Milwaukee purchased Fielder's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Monday, and he went 0-for-4 that night in his big league debut. He didn't play in Tuesday's game.

Franklin Nunez pitched the eighth and Danys Baez worked the ninth for his ninth save in 15 opportunities.

Brady Clark homered for Milwaukee, which has lost six of seven. Victor Santos (2-6) gave up five runs and eight hits in six-plus innings.

"I'm not discouraged," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "I believe we can turn it around real quick. We're good enough to do it."

Clark hit a leadoff homer in the first and Chris Magruder had an RBI grounder one inning later to put the Brewers up 2-0. Tampa Bay got a run back in the bottom of the second when Kevin Cash homered on the first pitch of his first at-bat this season.

"To get up and get that first at-bat and be a home run ... a hit is fine," Cash said. "A home run, that's always good."

Cash started the year sidelined by a shoulder injury and played 17 games at Triple-A Durham before being called up on Monday.

Alex Gonzalez tied it 2-all on a run-scoring double in the fourth. Tampa Bay went ahead 3-2 in the fifth when Julio Lugo scored from second with two outs when second baseman Rickie Weeks was charged with an error for misplaying Travis Lee's grounder.

Lugo's RBI double and a sacrifice fly by Nick Green gave the Devil Rays a 5-2 advantage in the seventh.
