DETROIT -- The Chicago White Sox are pretty confident when they have to go to their bullpen.
White Sox relievers also tossed 4 1/3 shutout innings in a 5-4 victory over the Tigers on Friday.
"Everyone is throwing well right now," said David Aardsma (2-0), who got the last out of the ninth for the win. "It doesn't matter who goes in right now as long we're getting people out."
Detroit relievers aren't having the same success. Fernando Rodney (1-4) gave up two hits and two runs, including Juan Uribe's sacrifice fly in the 10th. Rodney, 7-4 out of the bullpen last season, has half of the Tigers' losses this season.
"He didn't throw well," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said. "He didn't have any kind of rhythm or sync.
"He swears he's fine, but his velocity is down and his control is bad. Usually, in some cases, it's a sign something's not right."
Rodney said he feels fine physically.
"I'm just not throwing like I have to," he said. "I'm a little inconsistent and I'm not getting good location."
In Friday's win, Chicago pushed across a run in the seventh against Detroit reliever Jason Grilli to take a 5-4 lead.
Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect 10th Saturday for his sixth save in seven chances.
"We never gave up," said White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, whose club trailed 4-0 after the first inning. "We knew if we kept the game close we'd have a chance.
"We've got good arms right now. Guys are throwing strikes, attacking the strike zone -- just not afraid to go out and pitch."
White Sox starter Jose Contreras retired 16 straight batters after Carlos Guillen's first-inning grand slam, but Magglio Ordonez ended the run in the sixth when he sent a two-out pitch deep into left-center field for his second home run of the season.
Nate Robertson gave up three earned runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings for the Tigers. He struck out three and walked two.
Detroit has lost three straight.
Robertson retired the first nine batters he faced but ran into trouble in the fourth when he loaded the bases with a hit and two walks. Joe Crede's RBI single capped the three-run inning and Jim Thome added a sacrifice fly an inning later to tie it.
Crede also hit an RBI single against Joel Zumaya in the eighth to tie it at 5-5.
"Our bullpen just keeps buying the batters time to get a run," said Paul Konerko, who led off the 10th with a double. "They're just doing their job and they're doing great."
The Tigers, who managed just two hits in the last four innings of Friday's loss to the White Sox, opened the first inning with consecutive hits off Contreras, who then hit Gary Sheffield to load the bases.
Guillen made him pay an out later when he hit the right-hander's first pitch into the right-field bleachers. Contreras gave up five hits.
Detroit committed three errors, two of which led to Chicago runs, and had just two hits after Ordonez's homer.
"We did some stuff today that was embarrassing," Leyland said. "If we're not embarrassed, we should be. Myself, the coaches and everyone else.
"We should all be embarrassed."
