PEORIA, Ariz. -- Jhonny Peralta is ready for the regular season to start.
The Cleveland shortstop continued his impressive spring with a two-run single and the Indians beat a San Diego Padres split squad 8-6 on Saturday.
Peralta went 1-for-3 and is hitting .565 with two homers and nine RBI.
Fausto Carmona threw four scoreless innings for the Indians, lowering his spring ERA to 2.45. He walked three, allowed one hit and struck out two. The right-hander went 8-7 with a 5.44 ERA and 70 walks in 120 2-3 innings last year.
Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Trevor Crowe had two hits for the Indians.
Cha Seung Baek yielded two runs and two hits in four innings for San Diego. Drew Macias had three hits and drove in two runs.
Notes
The Padres agreed to a minor league contract with OF Chris Snelling on Saturday. Snelling, who played for Australia in the World Baseball Classic, went 1-for-1 with an RBI and scored a run.
