07/11/16TEDerek CarrierKneePROBABLECarrier (knee) probably won't be ready for the start of training camp, Mike Jones of The Washington Post reports.

Traded from San Francisco to Washington in exchange for a fifth-round pick before the 2015 season, Carrier caught 17 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown on 22 targets, working as either the No. 2 or 3 tight end. He then tore his ACL and MCL in mid-December, putting his 2016 availability into serious question. Even if he makes it back at some point in camp, Carrier will have to fight for a roster spot, as Washington also has Vernon Davis, Niles Paul (knee) and Logan Paulsen (toe) on the depth chart behind Jordan Reed.

07/11/16WRJosh DoctsonFootPROBABLEDoctson (Achilles) is expected to be healthy for the start of training camp in late July, The Washington Post reports.

The 22nd overall pick in the 2016 draft, Doctson missed most of the offseason program due to soreness in his left Achilles. With no indication that the injury is a long-term concern, he should still have all of training camp to earn a role in a crowded wideout group that also includes DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder. Though not expected to open the season as a starter, Doctson should push for an immediate role on obvious passing downs and/or in the red zone.

04/27/16DBDavid BrutonLegPROBABLEWashington and Bruton agreed to a contract Monday, Stephen Czarda of the team's official site reports.

The veteran safety primarily served on special teams during his seven-year stint with the Broncos, but eight starts litter his 104 career games. Last season, he received three nods in 13 appearances before suffering a season-ending broken right fibula in Week 15, finishing with 49 tackles (37 solo), two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one sack. Although he missed Denver's run to Super Bowl glory, he'll have the opportunity to lock down the first regular starting gig as a professional with Washington.

04/27/16RBSilas ReddSuspensionSUSPENDThe NFL has suspended Redd indefinitely for a violation of the league's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Bans of this variety are due to continued positive tests, which is evident as Redd has yet to serve a four-gamer for a similar violation due to his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL. Once healthy enough to return to the field, he'll have to bide his time and do his due diligence considering NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be in charge of any reinstatement effort.

07/11/16WRVictor CruzCalfPROBABLECruz (calf) is taking part in individual drills at Tuesday's mandatory minicamp practice, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports.

A report last week said Cruz wouldn't participate in the three-day minicamp, but he's apparently ready to run routes and catch passes without facing a defender. This bodes quite well for his training camp availability, as he was already tentatively expected to be ready for the start of camp. It remains to be seen if Cruz is still effective, having last played in a game Nov. 12, 2014. He may also have to compete with rookie second-rounder Sterling Shepard for snaps, though the Giants figure to once again rank among the NFL leaders in use of three-wide formations.

07/11/16RBOrleans DarkwaLegPROBABLEDarkwa is expected to be held out of action for about a month due to a small fracture in his tibia, NJ.com reports.

The injury is considered minor, with the Giants simply playing it safe with the running back at this stage of the offseason. Once he returns to practice, Darkwa figures to compete for depth snaps (along with recently signed Bobby Rainey) in a crowded Giants' backfield that also rosters Rashad Jennings, Andre Williams and Shane Vereen.
