02/07/13RBAdrian PetersonHernia In an interview with CBSSports.com, NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson said he "watched a little bit" last season as Vikings running back Adrian Peterson came within 9 yards of his single-season rushing record set in 1984. "When he got so close, I had to watch some of it," Dickerson said. "But it was good. It’s always good when somebody gets close but not break. Close but not break. ... I asked him, you want that record don’t you? He said yeah, you know I want it. But it was good for the league, it was good for me, it was good for him. He’s a great player, a great guy and I hope he gets close again -- without breaking it." Dickerson said Peterson could again challenge for the record this season, but it will be tough. "Now that he got so close, the defense is going to really be after him," Dickerson said. "They’re going to really scheme for him." (Updated 04/15/2013)
02/05/13WRGreg ChildsKnees Vikings receiver Greg Childs has indeed suffered two torn patella tendons in his knees, ending his rookie season prematurely. Surgery is expected soon. Childs appeared to sustain the injury while going up for a pass near the endzone and landing hard toward the end of Saturday's practice. He was carted off the field. “You hate to see any player go down for any reason, and Greg has struggled with injuries, as we know, in college,” said Frazier on Saturday. (Updated 08/05/2012)
01/10/13WRPercy HarvinAnkle It was just the first of 10 OTA practices in Seattle but Seahawks players and coaches are enamored with new weapon Percy Harvin. The official team website believes the 'Hawks will use him just as the Vikings did -- as a receiver lined up wide and in the slot, as a rusher and as a kick returner. That's making use of Harvin the right way but coach Pete Carroll spoke of an underrated factor that makes his fit in Seattle all the better. "The benefit that we might not mention too many times is the fact that he’s been with Bev (offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell), so he’s jumped right into the system," Carroll said. "He already knows quite a few of the nuances. He’s very explosive. He took the ball and turned it up a couple times today and he’s just lightning fast. You can see why he’s such a factor catching and running and in the kicking game." (Updated 05/21/2013)

02/05/13WRRyan BroylesKnee According to mlive.com, Lions receiver Ryan Broyles could be in line for a breakout season. The report says that Broyles had 349 receptions, 4,586 receiving yards and 45 touchdowns in college, so it is just a matter of time before his talent kicks in with the Lions. Broyles is currently recovering from his second ACL injury in two seasons. Detroit did not add a receiver early this offseason, which means the Lions must be comfortable with Broyles' progress. (Updated 05/20/2013)
02/05/13WRNate BurlesonLeg The Lions' official website reports that the starting outside receiver's role is Nate "Burleson's job to lose." The veteran is healthy after fracturing his leg last season and has the trust of the coaching staff. (Updated 05/07/2013)
01/24/13WRTitus YoungKnee After a tumultuous couple of seasons in Detroit, the Lions released receiver Titus Young in February, and it's telling that there hasn't been much, if any, interest in the talented, yet troubled receiver. Getting arrested twice in a 15-hour span probably won't help. But that's where Young found himself Sunday, according to the Oakland Press, when he was handcuffed a little after midnight for suspicion of DUI and again at about 2:22 p.m. when Young allegedly was trying to retrieve his black Mustang from a tow company yard. He has been charged with burglary in his second arrest after police say he was trying to take back the car that was impounded after his first arrest. (Updated 05/08/2013)
01/03/13RBJahvid BestConcussion Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said running back Jahvid Best could spend the 2013 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list if he is still not cleared to practice after suffering multiple concussions in the 2011 season. Best is still holding out hope that he can play football again. (Updated 03/19/2013)
